7.2 Installing ActiveSync

Before synchronization can begin, you must install
ActiveSync 3.7 or above on your desktop or notebook PC.
Use the Application CD that came with your Dopod585,
or install ActiveSync for free by downloading the
software from http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile.
ActiveSync is already in stalled on your Dopod585.
Creating a partnership
After the ActiveSync installation is completed, the New
Partnership wizard will help you set up a partnership
between your Dopod585 and your desktop or notebook
PC. Your fi rst synchronization process will automatically
begin when you fi nish using the wizard. After the fi rst
synchronization, you will notice that the information from your
PC, which you selected, now appears on your Dopod585.
Before setting up ActiveSync, connect your Dopod585
phone to your computer using a USB port, or via infrared
connection.
Selective synchronization
The fi rst synchronization begins automatically after you fi nish
using the New Partnership wizard.
By default, ActiveSync does not automatically syn chro nize
all Outlook information. You can use ActiveSync options
to turn synchronization for specifi c information types on
