Using this socket with the supplied special AMF sync. lead the generator will flash
as soon as it comes to 'READY' for as long as the socket contacts are held
closed. The 'B' shutter setting of most mechanical and electronic cameras will
provide this function. The AMF system can be tested by pressing and holding
down the AMF test button (29 Figure 1). Where the AMF system is used with
linked Generators, the Generator designated as the master should always have a
longer recycle time than that of the slaves to ensure correct synchronisation.
Although other combinations are possible, this can be simply achieved by setting
the slaves to 1/3rd 'f' stop (one LED bar) down from the master. This assumes that
all Generators are of the same type and power rating and that the Fast/Slow
charge settings are the same. The AMF system is inoperative when the Switch
Mode module is used.
9. Sounder Control (14)
When the LED above the 'Sounder' push button (14 Figure 1) is illuminated the
sounder is switched 'ON' and it will give a short beep as the generator comes to
ready.
Press the 'Sounder' push button to toggle between Sounder 'ON' and 'OFF'.

10. Memory

To overcome having to reset all the controls on the Generator each time it is
switched 'ON' a memory is incorporated which maintains all controls at the
settings in use when the generator was last turned 'OFF'.
With a fully charged battery the memory will hold the settings for up to 4 weeks. It
should be remembered, however, that operating the controls when the Generator
is switched 'OFF' will change the memorised settings.
If the Generator has not been used for a long time the memory may be lost. This
may be shown by the indicators being dimly lit when the generator is first switched
'ON'. To reset the power indicators operate the combined 'DOWN' button until
normal operation is obtained.

11. Cooling Fan And Overheat

The unit is fitted with a thermostatically controlled fan which senses the internal
temperature of various places within the Generator. Under normal conditions of
use the fan is unlikely to operate but when the Generator is used heavily the fan
will cut in to lower the internal temperature allowing many more shots to be taken.
As a backup to the fan, an internal thermal cut-out is provided to prevent the
Generator from overheating under very heavy conditions of use and/or failure of
the fan to cool the Generator sufficiently. The operation of the fan and cut-out are
as follows:-
Generator at normal temperature and working normally. - Fan not running.
Generator warm to hot and working normally. - Fan running.
Generator not working, very hot, fan running and Mains Switch indicator lit. -
cut-out has operated to protect Generator. Fan will cool unit and reset the cut-
out.
Generator not working, very hot, fan NOT running and Mains Switch indicator
NOT lit. - Failure of mains supply or Generator fuse. Investigate supply and
check fuse.
