Draining the Fuel Tank and Carburetor
Gasoline is highly flammable and explosive.
You can be burned or seriously injured when
handling fuel.
• Stop the engine and keep heat, sparks,
• Handle fuel only outdoors.
• Wipe up spills immediately.
1.Unscrew the fuel filler cap (see page 37), remove the fuel filter, and
empty the fuel tank into an approved gasoline container. We
recommend using a commercially available gasoline hand pump to
empty the tank. Do not use an electric pump. Reinstall the fuel filter
and the fuel filler cap.
2.Loosen the maintenance cover screw and remove the maintenance
cover (see page 39).
3.Loosen the carburetor drain screw, and drain the gasoline from the
carburetor into a suitable container.
4.Remove the spark plug maintenance cover, and the spark plug cap
(see page 46).
5.Turn the engine switch to the ON position (see page 23).
6.Pull the starter grip (see page 24) 3 to 4 times to drain the gasoline
from the fuel pump.
7.Turn the engine switch to the OFF position.
8.Tighten the carburetor drain screw.
and flame away.
