Formatting the HD Partition
in Windows XP or 2000
1. Disable any anti-virus software you may have running.
. Double-click on My Computer. In the My Computer window you
should see the HD PART icon.
. Right-click the HD PART icon and select Format... in the pop-up
menu. The Format dialog box will appear.
. Under Capacity, verify the capacity. It should be close to the
stated capacity of your Drive in gigabytes.
. In the File System pop-up menu, select the file system.
6. In the Allocation unit size pop up, select "Default allocation size."
7. In the Volume label field, type in a unique name for the HD parti-
tion that will distinguish it from other volumes.
. Under Format options you can check Quick Format. If you leave it
unchecked Windows will run a Full format. A Full format will take
about 0-0 minutes. A Quick format will take just a few minutes,
but will do less verifying of the Drive.
. Click Start. Once the format process is complete, the HD partition
will be ready to use.
