About the meter and test strips
Certain substances can interfere with the ACCU-CHEK Compact Plus blood glucose system and cause falsely
!

!

• Some people with diabetes do not experience symptoms of low blood sugar (hypoglycemia). Others, such as children or
people who are unconscious or have certain disabilities, may not be able to communicate their symptoms to caregivers.
For these reasons, do not change any treatment without first talking to a doctor.
• Run a control test when you open a new box of test strips or if you think that your test result is incorrect. Running a
control test lets you know that the meter and test strips are working properly.
DO NOT CHANGE YOUR TREATMENT BASED ON A SINGLE RESULT THAT DOES NOT MATCH HOW YOU FEEL OR IF YOU
BELIEVE THAT YOUR TEST RESULT COULD BE INCORRECT.
If your blood sugar result doesn't match how you feel and you have followed the instructions in this Owner's Booklet,
follow your doctor's instructions, or call your doctor.
Special Information for Healthcare Providers and Caregivers
• Do not use this device to measure blood sugar in people who are experiencing cardiovascular collapse (severe shock) or
decreased peripheral blood flow.
• Consult your physician to determine if it is appropriate for your child to be taught how to use the meter system or any
other medical products.

To change the battery in an Accu-Chek COMPACT PLUS:

1. Ensure the meter is off.
2. Locate the battery cover and ensure it is flat.
3. Remove the battery cover.
4. Take out both AAA batteries.
5. Insert two new long-lasting alkaline AAA batteries of the same brand.
6. Try to insert the new batteries within two minutes to avoid resetting the time and date.
7. If possible, wait until the current test drum is empty before replacing the batteries.
8. Push the battery cover in the direction of the arrow to lock it in place.

If the drum door is opened while the batteries are out, you may need to reset the time and date.
