Removing Road Salt

Seawater can be found on the road near the
seaside.
The salt in seawater causes rust.
Wash your motorcycle as follows after it
has run through salty water.
1. Clean the motorcycle using cool water
(page 115 ).
Do not use warm water.
This worsens the effect of the salt.
2. Dry the motorcycle and make sure the
metal is protected with the wax.

Painted Aluminum Wheel Maintenance

Aluminum may corrode from contact with
dirt, mud, or road salt. Clean the wheels
af ter riding through any of these
substances. Use a wet sponge and mild
detergent. Avoid stiff brushes, steel wool, or
cleaners containing abrasives or chemical
compounds.
After washing, rinse with plenty of water
and dry with a clean cloth.
