Third, the connection speed test is a measure of how fast your satellite receiver is able to
download content from the Shaw Direct On Demand network, not an overall gauge of how fast
your internet is. There are a variety of factors related to how far the data needs to travel
between the Shaw Direct On Demand network and your satellite receiver which can affect how
fast you're able to connect. Using a wireless connection will also reduce the speed test results.
If results still seem low, make sure no one else in the house is using a lot of bandwidth while
you're running the speed test. File sharing, online gaming, video streaming, VOIP services, and
more all use a fair amount of bandwidth.
