Versions with an automatic
gearbox
If the driver's door is open or not prop-
erly closed, automatic release is deac-
tivated for safety reasons if the gear
lever is not at P or N (to prevent the
vehicle from moving on its own). The
message "Release manually parking
brake" is displayed on the instrument
panel. In this case, to start, release the
parking brake manually by depressing
the brake pedal and pressing switch 3.
2.12
(3/4)
Automatic release is reactivated when
the driver's door is closed and the gear
lever moved to position P or N before
moving to D or R.
3
It is therefore essential to
immobilise the vehicle by
engaging first gear (manual
gearbox) or position P (au-
tomatic gearbox). If the slope re-
quires it, chock the vehicle.
Never leave your vehicle
without moving the selector
lever to position P or N.
This is because when the
vehicle is stationary with the engine
running and a gear engaged, the
vehicle may begin to move if you
accelerate.
There is a risk of accidents.
