6 Communication Settings

Communication Settings control the network communications with each
device. Available settings vary depending on the model and can include
Network interface settings, Secure protocol settings, Login, Account
polling settings, and Device polling settings.
Note: If authentication is enabled on the device, the Login user name and
Password must be set correctly in the Communication Settings dialog box
for access to device features, such as Address Book, Users, or Document
Box.
You can view or change the network interface settings, polling and protocol
settings, and login information in the Communication Settings dialog box for
the selected device.
In any Device view or Accounting devices view, select a device.
In the Device menu, click Communication settings.
In the Communication Settings dialog box, type or modify the available
settings.
Click OK.
This section displays settings for each network interface card attached to the
device. You can select the primary network card and edit select settings
including TCP/IP port, communication timeout, administrator password and
SNMP communication settings.
You can enter the communication settings for the devices from the following
options. Available options vary by model.
TCP/IP port
Type the value that matches what is set on the device. The valid range for
port numbers is 1024 to 65535.
Communication timeout (seconds)
The number of seconds the application tries to establish a connection with
the device.
SNMP communication retries
The number of retries to establish communication with the device after a
communication failure.
