Configure authentication servers
For any authentication other than Local, make sure an authentication server is set up for that
method.
The ACS 5000 console server must be on the same subnet as the authentication server.
Each authentication server must be configured and operational.
The administrator should obtain the necessary information from each authentication server
administrator, in order configure those servers on the console server.
To configure a RADIUS authentication server:
Perform this procedure to configure a RADIUS authentication server when the console server or
any of its ports are configured to use the RADIUS authentication method or any of its variations
(Local/RADIUS, RADIUS/Local or RADIUS/DownLocal).
1.
Select Expert - Security - Authentication - RADIUS.
2.
Fill in the screen according to your local RADIUS server configuration.
3.
Click apply changes.
To configure a TACACS+ authentication server:
Perform this procedure to configure a TACACS+ authentication server when the console server or
any of its ports are configured to use TACACS+ authentication method or any of its variations
(Local/TACACS+, TACACS+/Local or TACACS+/DownLocal).
1.
Select Expert - Security - Authentication - TACACS+. The TACACS+ screen appears.
2.
Fill in the screen to match the TACACS+ server configuration.
3.
To specify a time-out period in seconds for each authentication attempt, enter a number in the
Timeout field.
If the authentication server does not respond to the request for authentication of the user
credentials before the specified time period, the login attempt is cancelled. The user can retry
up to the maximum number of retries specified in the Retries field on this screen.
4.
To specify a number of times the user can request authentication verification from the server
before sending an authentication failure message to the user, enter a number in the Retries
field.
5.
Click apply changes.
LDAP authentication server configuration
You need the following information from the LDAP server administrator:
The distinguished name of the search base
The LDAP domain name
