    Introduction Overview Each model in the Cyclades ACS 5000 advanced console server series is a 1U appliance that serves as a single access point to access and manage connected devices. See the Cyclades ACS 5000 Command Reference Guide for procedures to obtain a Signed Digital Certificate, configure a self-signed digital certificate and implement authentication of SSH sessions through exchange of X.509 certificates.

System generated messages on the console server and the connected devices can be sent to syslog servers for handling.

    CHAPTER Installation You can mount the ACS 5000 console server on a wall, rack or cabinet or place it on a desktop or other flat surface. Two brackets are supplied with six hex screws to connect the brackets to the console server.

NOTE: Turn on the power switches of the connected devices only after you have completed the physical connection to the console server.

    Chapter 3: Web Manager for Regular Users Connect When you select Connect from the left menu, you can connect to the console of the console server or to the console of devices connected to the serial ports. The list of ports in the Serial pull-down menu includes the port names or administrator-defined aliases only for enabled ports that you are authorized to access.

Basic network settings that are required to enable logins through the Web Manager are configured during initial setup. Skip this step if the current settings are correct.
