USING THE RECORDER

The numbers between parentheses refer to the fold-out.

Switching ON and OFF

q q q q q Connect the power cord into the mains.
w w w w w Press the POWER ON/OFF (1) button on the front of the
CD-Recorder to turn it on or off.

Using the remote control

q q q q q Open the battery compartment cover.
w w w w w Insert 2 batteries (AA, LR-6 or UM-3; as supplied) as
shown.
e e e e e Replace the cover.
Note:
- We recommend you use 2 batteries of the same type and
condition.
- When operating the remote control, point it at the remote
sensor located on the CD-Recorder's front panel. The re-
mote control can be used up to 17 feet (5m) from the CD-
Recorder and within a 30˚ angle on each side of the sensor.
This remote control can switch "STANDBY ON/OFF" but can-
not switch "POWER ON/OFF" the CD-Recorder.
Batteries contain chemical substances, so they should be
disposed of properly.

Inserting discs

q q q q q Press OPEN/CLOSE (22, 39) to open the Front door.
➔ If the POWER (1) is not turned on yet, manually open
the front door and turn on the power.
w w w w w Press / / / / / OPEN/CLOSE (10, 11, 38) to open the disc tray.

➔ On the remote control, you can choose the deck press-
ing by CDR (43) or CD (60).
Note:
When you press the / OPEN/CLOSE (10,11), the tray might hit
your finger.
e e e e e Insert a CD, CD-R or CD-RW in the appropriate recess in
the tray, label side up.
r r r r r Press / / / / / OPEN/CLOSE (10, 11, 38) to close the tray.
lights up, followed by
play will show the type of disc you inserted.

If a CD-R(W) is finalized it will show CD on the display.
If CD-text is available the TITLE/ARTIST will scroll by.

Note:
Only Audio CDs will be accepted. If a non-audio disc is in-
serted, the display shows
CD-Recorder deck only

For recording it is important that the blank disc is completely
free from dust particles or scratches. (see Compact Discs
page 1).
-
If you insert a blank or partly-recorded CD-R or unfinalized
CD-RW, the CD-Recorder will calibrate the disc for optimum
recording. During this process the display will first show
and then the number of audio tracks.
Calibration can take up to 25 seconds.
