NOTE:The positivebatteryterminalis markedPos, (+),
The negativebatteryterminalis markedNeg, (-),
Thepositivecane (heavyred wire) is securedto the
positivebatteryterminal(+)with a hexbolt and hex
nut at thefactory,Beforeattachingthe negativecane
removethe batteryby removingthe positivecane
and hold-downstrap,Notethe dateon theside of the
battery,If the batteryis put into serviceafter this date,
chargethe batteryas instructedin the Maintaining
YourLawnTractorsectionof this manualprior to
operatingthetractor,
Securebatteryback ontothe tractorwith the hold-
downstrap,Reattachthe positivecane (heavyred
wire)to the positivebatteryterminal(+)with the bolt
and nut, Makecertain that the rubberbootcoversthe
terminalto help protectit fromcorrosion,
Removethehex bolt and hexnut from the negative
cane,
Removetheblack plasticcover,if present,from the
negativebatteryterminaland attachthe negative
cane (heavy blackwire)to the negativebattery
terminal(-) with the boltand nut,
Makecertain thehold=down strap is in positionover
the battery,securingit in place,See Figure1,
Attaching
The Seat
NOTE:Forshippingreasons,seatsare eitherfastened
to the tractorseat'spivot bracketwith a plastictie, or
mountedbackwardto the pivot bracket,In eithercase,
freethe seat form its shippingpositionand removethe
two hex screws(or knobs,on modelsso equipped)from
the bottomof seat beforeproceedingwith applicable
instructionsbelow,
1, Positionthe shoulderscrews (foundon the baseof the
seat) insidethe slot openingsin the seat pivot bracket,
Figure2,
2, Slide theseat slightlyrearwardin the seat pivot
bracket,lining up the rear slots in the pivotbracket
with the remainingtwo holesin the seat'sbase,
3, Selectdesiredpositionforthe seat,and securewith
the two knobs removed earlier,See Figure2,
