nition key, disconnect
the spark plugwire(s)
and ground against
the engine to prevent
unintended starting

All belts on yourtractorare subiectto wearand should
be replacedif anysigns of wearare present,
IMPORTANT: T he V-beltsfoundon yourtractorare
speciallydesignedto engageand disengagesafely,A
substitute(nomOEM)V-beltcan be dangerousby not
disengagingcompletely,Fora properworkingmachine,
usefactory approvedbelts,
Tochangeor replacethe deck belt on yourtractor,
proceedas follows:
1, Removethe beltkeeperrod(s)from aroundthe
enginepulley,
2, Removethecuttingdeck as instructedearlier in this
section,
3, Removethe beltguardsby removingthe self-tapping
screwsthat fastenthem to the deck,
4, Carefullyloosen,butdo not remove,the deck idler
pulleys,
5, Removethe deck belt fromaroundall pulleys,including
the deck idler pulleys,
6, Routethe newbelt as shownin Figure23 and retighten
the deck idler pulleys,
7, Reinstallthe beltguardsremovedearlierand remount
the deckto thetractor,
8, Routethe beltaroundthe enginepulleyand reinstall
the belt keeperrod(s),

Avoid the possibility of
a pinching injury. Do
not place your fingers
on the idler spring or
between the belt and a
pulley while removing
the belt.
