Programming channels automatically
Using this process, your VCR will automatically
tune in all of the
television
stations
you can receive. You can later get rid of re]-
wanted
or unused
stations.
If your local cable box company
scrambles
some or all stations,
and/or requires
you to use a cable box, then your ability
to pro-
gram channels
will be ]imitod. The cable box.re,:eives
all of your
chanaels
and then sends only m_e to your
TV (and your VCR),
usually
on channel
3 or 4.
If you must
use a cable box, you should
choose =Cable box only" in
step _
below. Your VCR will use its special
Cable Box Control
technology
to change the channels
on the cable box.
Ifyour cablebox or cablesystem seems incompatible with your
new VCR, call y our cablecompany. They may be able topro_4de
solutions
to your problems.
Beforeyou begin, y ou should:
• have completed all connections between your VCR, TV, and
cable or antenna;
(see page 11)
• know how to view the picture
coming from your VCR; (see
page 20) and
• know how to use the menus.

To program
channels
automatically:
Press the MENU button
on the remote
control. You will '.see
the _qCR Main Menu" on the TV screen.
Use the JOG/ADJUST
buttons
to move the cursor next to
"First
Time Set-Up."
Press the ENTER
button
on the remote
control.
The "First Time Set-Up" menu appears
on your screen.
Press
the JOG/ADJUST
buttons
to move the cursor next to "-Memo-
rize channels."
Press the ENTER button.
If you are recording
or playing back a tape, t:hen the words "Not
available"
will flash. To correct this, stop the tape.
You will see the menu for automatically
memorizing
chan-
nels. Using the following
list as a reference_
press the JOG/
ADJUST
buttons
to select the kind of anterna
you connected.
