direct the incoming hard water supply to the softener valve inlet fitting.The valve is marked IN and OUT See below
to help you prepare.
Where to Install the Softener
* Place die softener as tlose as possible to a sewer drain, or odler act epmble drain poim or standpipe.
* It is recommended
to keep outside tim( ets on hard water to save soti water and salt.
* Do not install the soften er in a place where it could fleeze. Freezedamage isnot coveredbythewarranty.
* Do not install tlle softener where it would blo(k a_( ess t() dm water heater or a(:(ess to the main water shutoff.
* I'm tlle softener in a place where water damage is least likely to o(cur ifa leak develops. Tlle manutilcmrer
_dll not repair or PW fi)r water damage.
*A 120 volt eledric oudet is needed to plug in tlle inchlded nansfi)rmer.

Tools and Materials Required for Installation
* In and om fittings in( luded with tlle sotiener are _;/+" ( nominal) copper sweat robes. To maim;tin lull valve
flow, 1" pipes to and flom tile softener fittings are rex ommended.
You should maintain tlle same, ()r larger,
pipe size as tlle water mlpply pipe, up to tl_e sot/ener inlet and outlet.
* Use d_e included bypass wdve to install d_e softener. The bypass valve allows you to turn offwater to the
softener %r sexn'icing, but soil have water in the house pipes. Tile in and om fittings reterred to ab()ve
connect to the bypass valve widl tlle included nuts and washers.
* Use copper, brass or galvanized pipe and fittings. Some (;odes may also allow CIWC plasuc pipes.
* If additional &ain hose is needed tbr valve and sah rank &ains, it can be ordered flom GE Pans at
800.626.2002.
* Ifa rigid valve Nain is needed to comply widl phmlbing
codes, you can buy tlle palls needed to conned a
K/' copper robing or plastic pipe drain.
* Clean nugget or pellet water sotlener salt is needed to fill dm brine rank, see Step 8in tl_e Stop-bl/-Stop
