Sanitizing Procedures
Tocomplete the installation, do the following sanitizingprocedures.
Cme is taken at tile iixctox T to keep your water softener clean and sanitaFy. Materials used to make tile
softener xdll not intbct or contaminate your water supply and will nol cruise bacteria to fi)rm or gr()-w.
However, &1ring shipping, storage, installing and operating, bacteria tould gel into tl_e softener.
Fox this reason, sanitizing as fi)llows is suggested when installing.
NOTE: Sanitizingis recommendedby the Water QualityAssociation fordisinfecting.
[_Be sure to ( omplele all installation sleps, in(luding timer programming.
[_Pom about 3/4 oz. of common 5.25% household bleach (Clorox, Linco, Be Peep, White Sail, Eagle, etc.)
into the brineweg.Re_br to illustration on page 6.
[_]IMPORTANT: Press and hokl tbr 3 seconds the ti_ceplate TOUCH/HOLD button to start an immediate
regeneration. Recharge Nowbegins to flash in the display. The bleach is drawn into and through the
water softener.
[_If after sanitizafion water from house timcet tastes salt}, or has a slight color, this is a preservative fiom tlm
resin tank. Turn on the cokl soft water f:aucet s and drain fi)r a tew minutes or until clear.
NOTE:When the above sanitizing regeneration is over, your house COtOwater supply is flfily soft immediately.
However, your water beater is filled with hard '_vtt e r and as hot water is used, it will refill with soft water. When
all the hard water is replaced in the x_vtterbeater, hot only and mixed hot and cold _vtter will be tully soft. If
you want totally soft water immediately, after the ab_we regeneration, &ain the water heater until the water
runs cold.
A WARN/NG: If you do drain tl_e water heater, use extreme care as tile hot water tould cause burns.
Turn tl_e water beater offprior Io draining.
