Cleaning Engine
• Dailyor beforeevery use, cleangrass,chaffor accumulated
debrisfromengine.Keeplinkage,spring,and controlsclean.
Keeparea aroundand behindmufflerfreeof any combustible
debris.
• Keepingenginecleanallows air movement a roundengine.
• Engineparts shouldbe keptcleanto reducethe risk of overheat-
ing and ignitionof accumulated debris.
Do not usewaterto cleanengine parts.Watercouldcontaminatefuel
system.Usea brushor drycloth.
LUBRICATION
* Wheels- Placea few dropsof SAE30 oil on eachshoulderscrew
oncea season.
, Nozzle heightadjustment levers- Lubricatenozzleheight
adjustmentleverswith lightoil.
, Locking Rod- Lubricatethe lock rodand compressionsprings
whichattachto the mountingbracket.
, Nozzle/Hose Vac Lever: Lubricatethe nozzle/hosevac leveron
topof the nozzleonce a seasonwith lightoil.

CLEANING EQUIPMENT
Cleanundersideof theyardvacuumonce a seasonto preventbuild-up
of debris.Followstepsbelowfor thisjob.
1. Disconnectand ground sparkplug wire. Emptythe fueltank by
runningengineuntiltank is dry.
2. Tipthe yard vacuumso that it restson its side, keepingthe
mufflersidedown. Holdyardvacuumfirmly.
3. Scrapeand cleanthe undersideof the deck and nozzlewith a
suitabletool. Donot spraywith water.
IMPORTANT:Donot usea pressurewasheror garden hoseto clean
yourunit. Thesemay causedamageto bearings,or the engine.The
useof water will resultin shortenedlife and reduceserviceability.
4. Putthe yardvacuumbackon its wheelson theground.
CLEANING THE FLAIL SCREEN
If the dischargearea becomesclogged, removetheflail screenand
cleanarea as follows:
1. Stopthe engine.Makecertain the chipper/shredder v acuumhas
cometo a completestop.
2. Beforeuncloggingthe dischargechute,disconnect and ground
the spark plugwire.
3. Removethe vacuumbagor blowerchute fromthe unitas
instructedin the OPERATION sectionto obtainaccessto flail
screen.
4. Removethe three self tappingscrewssecuringthebelt cover,and
removebeltcover.See Figure20.
5. Removeself tappingscrewon rightsideof unitthat attachesto
theflail screen.See Figure21.
