The flash has a range of 0.5-8.0
m (1.6 ft.-26.2
ft.) when the camera
is
zoomed out all the way. With maximum
optical zoom applied,
the range is
0.5-4.5
m (1.6 ft.-I4.8
ft.). The following
flash modes are available:
_tU[0
Auto (default setting in a
m0de)
Flash fires automatically when lighting is poor.
_@ Auto
with red-eye reduction
Reduces "red eye" in portraits (_ 25).
@off
Flash will not fire even when lighting is poor.
Fill flash
Flash fires whenever picture is taken. Useto "fill-in" (illuminate) shadows and
back-lit subjects.

Slow sync
Flash illuminates main subject; slow shutter speeds are used to capture back-
ground at night or under dim light.

selector

the
desired
flash
mode
and press
Flash
®.
• The icon for the selected flash mode is displayed at
the top of the monitor.
• When _AU[0 i s applied, _1[[_is only displayed for five
seconds.
• The monitor will return to the normal display for the
current mode if the setting is not applied by press-
ing O within five seconds.
• The flash mode applied in I_ mode is stored in the
camera's memory even after the camera is turned
off.
