Caring for the Products

The
Monitor
• The monitor
may contain
a few pixels that are always
lit or that do not light. This is a characteristic
common
to all TFT LCD displays,
and does not indicate
a malfunction.
Images
saved using the
product
will not be affected.
• White or colored
streaks of light may be visible on the monitor
with framing
of bright
subjects.
This phenomenon,
known
as "smear," occurs when
extremely
bright
light strikes the image sensor.
This is due to characteristics
of the image
sensor and does not indicate
a malfunction.
Smear may
also cause partial discoloration
on monitor
display
with shooting.
Smear does not affect
recorded
images except
when shooting
with Continuous
set to Multi
shot 16 and when
recording
movies.
When
shooting
in these modes,
avoiding
bright
objects
such as the sun, reflections
of the sun, and
electric
lights is recommended.
• images on the monitor
may be difficult
to see under
bright
lighting.
• The monitor
is lit by an LED backlight.
Should
the monitor
begin
to dim or flicker, contact
your
Nikon authorized
service representative.
The
Battery
• Be sure to read and follow tile warnings of"For Your Safety" (_vi
to _viii)
thoroughly
before using the battery.
• Check the battery level before using the camera and replace or charge the
battery if necessary. Do not continue charging once the battery is fully charged
as this will result in reduced battery performance. Whenever possible, carry a
fully charged spare battery when taking pictures on important occasions.
• Do not use the battery at ambient temperatures below O°C(32°F) or above 40°C
(104°F).
• Charge the battery indoors with an ambient temperature of S°Cto 35°C (41°F to
95°F) before use.
• When the battery t emperature isbetween 0°¢and IO°C(32°F to50°F) or45°C to
60°C (I 13°Fto 140°F)_ thechargeable capacity may decrease.
• The battery isnotchargedatambient temperatures below O°C(32°F) o rabove
60°C (I 40°F).
• Note that the battery may become hot during use; wait for the battery to cool
before charging. Failure to observe these precautions could damage the
batte% impair its performance, or prevent it from charging normally.
• On cold days, the capacity of batteries tends to decrease. Be sure that the
battery is fully charged before heading outside to take pictures in cold weather.
Keep spare batteries in a warm place and exchange as necessary. Once warmeG
a cold battery may recover some of its charge.
• Dirt on the battery terminals can prevent the camera from functioning. Should
the battery terminals become dirty, wipe them offwith
a clean, dry cloth before
