Listening to non-preset radio
station
i Manual Tuning

Press TUNER BAND repeatedly to
select "FM" or "AM".
2 Press TUNING + or- repeatedly to tune
in the desired station.
To cut the sound
Press MUTING.
Press MUTING again or VOLUME + to restore
sound.
To listen to an FM stereo program
without stereo effect
When an FM stere() progrmu has static noise,
press FM MODE repeatedly until "MONO '
appears. There
will be no stere()
efl'ect, but tile
reception will improve.
Tips
• To improve bro:ldcast reception, u@lst the supplied
antennas, or connect a commercially available
external antenna.
• Press and hold TUNING + or . The frequency
indication changes aM scanning stops when the
system tunes in a station (Automatic Tuning).
• To record the radio programs, use manual recording
(pages 29 and 33).

What is the Radio Data
System?
Radio Data System (RDS) is a broadcasting
service that allows radio stations to send
additional inl\lrmation along with the regular
program signal. This tuner offers convenient
RDS features like station name. RDS is
available only on FM stations.*

RDS may not work properly if the station you arc.tuned
in is not transmitting the RDS signal properly or if the
signal is weak.
:'-Not all FM stations provide RDS serx ice_ nor do they
provide the same types of services, if you are not
familiar x_ith Ihe RDS system, check with your local
radio stations for details on RDS services in your
area.
Receiving RDS broadcasts
Simply select a station from the FM band.
When you tune ill a stmion that provides RDS
services, the station name appears in the display.
To check the RDS information
Each time you press DISPLAY. the display
changes cyclically as l\)llows:
Station ualne l) ---* Preset number 2_and
fi÷equency ---* Clock display (for a few seconds)
---* E['tbct stares (l\)r a tL'w seconds)
1_if the RDS broadcast is not properly receive& the
station name may not appear in the display.
2_Preset number is displayed only if you preset radio
stations (page 25).
