Spark Plug
Checksparkplug yearlyor every 100operatinghours
1.
Cleanarea aroundspark plug.
2.
Remove and inspectspark plug.
3.
Replace spark plug if porcelainiscrackedor if electrodesare
pitted,burnedor fouledwith deposits
4.
Checkelectrodegap with a feelergaugeand set gap to .030
(0.76ram)if necessary.See Figure14.
5.
Reinstall spark plugand tightensecurely.
NOTE:A resistorsparkplug must be usedfor replacement. C ontacta
SearsPartsand RepairCenterfor a replacement s park plug.
Carburetor
If yoususpectyourcarburetorneedsadjusting,seea SearsParts and
RepairCenter.Engineperformanceshouldnotbe affectedat altitudes
up to 7,000feet (2,134meters).Foroperationat higherelevations,
contacta SearsPartsand RepairCenter.
Engine
Speed
Avoidseriousinjuryor death,DO NOT modifyenginein anyway.
Tamperingwiththe governorsettingcancause the engineand
equipmentto operateat unsafespeeds.NEVERtamperwith factory
settingof engine governor. R unningthe enginefasterthanthe speed
set at thefactory is dangerous.
LUBRiCATiON
Gear Shaft
The gear (hex)shaft shouldbe lubricatedat least oncea seasonor
after every25 hoursof operation.
1.
Topreventspillage,placea pieceof plasticwrap underthegas
capand tightensecurely.
2.
Carefullypivotthe snowthrowerup andforwardso that it restson
the augerhousing.
3.
Removethe lowerframecover fromthe undersideof the snow
throwerby removing the four self-tappingscrewswhichsecure it.
4.
Applya lightcoatingof engineoil (or 3-in-1 oil) to the hexshaft.
See Figure15.
NOTE:Whenlubricatingthe hexshaft, be careful notto get any oil on
the aluminumdriveplateor rubberfrictionwheel. Doingso will hinder
the snowthrower'sdrivesystem.Wipeoff anyexcessor spilledoil.
Wheels
At leastonce a season,removebothwheels.Cleanand coat the axles
with a multipurpose automotivegreasebeforereinstallingwheels.
Chute
Directional
Control
Oncea season,lubricatetheeye bolt bushingandthe spiralwith
3-in-1oil.
Auger
Shaft
At least oncea season,removethe shearpinson augershaft. Spray
lubricantinsideshaft, and aroundthe spacersand flange bearings
foundat eitherend of the shaft. See Figure16.
