the reverse/reinforcement stitch button once.

Adjusting the thread tension

The tensions of the upper thread and of the bobbin
thread (thread tension) should be adjusted so that
they are equal.
If the preset thread tension does not give the desired
result or if you are sewing with special thread or on
special fabric, use the thread tension dial to increase
or decrease the tension of the upper thread.
Note
● If the upper thread is not threaded correctly
or the bobbin is not installed correctly, it
may not be possible to set the correct thread
tension. If the correct thread tension cannot
be achieved, rethread the upper thread and
insert the bobbin correctly.

● We recommend that you do a test sample
on scrap of a fabric before you start to sew.

■ Correct thread tension
The upper thread and the bobbin thread should cross near
the center of the fabric. Only the upper thread should be
visible from the right side of the fabric, and only the bobbin
thread should be visible from the wrong side of the fabric.

■ Upper thread is too tight
If the bobbin thread is visible from the right side
of the fabric, the upper thread is too tight.
Note
● If the bobbin thread was incorrectly
threaded, the upper thread may be too tight.
In this case, refer to "Installing the bobbin"
(page 18) and rethread the bobbin thread.

Turn the thread tension dial to the left to
loosen the upper thread.
■ Upper thread is too loose
If the upper thread is visible from the wrong side
of the fabric, the upper thread is too loose.
Note
● If the upper thread was incorrectly threaded,
the upper thread may be too loose. In this
case, refer to "Threading the upper thread"
(page 20) and rethread the upper thread.
