Primary hard drive

NOTE: The 4.57-cm (1.80-inch) primary hard drive must be installed in the hard drive bay.
Installation of this drive in the optical drive bay is not supported.
NOTE: All primary hard drive spare part kits include a hard drive bracket.

160-GB, 5400-rpm hard drive
120-GB, 5400-rpm hard drive
80-GB, 5400-rpm hard drive
80-GB, solid-state hard drive
Primary hard drive connector board (required for installation of primary hard drive)
Before removing the primary hard drive, follow these steps:
1. Shut down the computer. If you are unsure whether the computer is off or in Hibernation, turn
the computer on, and then shut it down through the operating system.
2. Disconnect all external devices connected to the computer.
3. Disconnect the power from the computer by first unplugging the power cord from the AC outlet
and then unplugging the AC adapter from the computer.

Remove the primary hard drive:
1. Position the computer with the front toward you.
2. Loosen the two Phillips PM2.5×6.0 captive screws (1) that secure the primary hard drive bay
cover to the computer.
3. Lift the inner side of the primary hard drive bay cover (2), swing it up, and remove the cover (3).
The primary hard drive bay cover is included in the Plastics Kit, spare part number 492577-001.
