AVG stations and DataCenter. A Firebird server is used for accessing the DataCenter database. AVG Proxy server is also a part of the AVG Admin Server and serves for mirroring update files that can be accessed via the HTTP protocol.
You can also use the default DataCenter database from the installation package ( data/avgdb.fdb). If you are installing AVG Admin Server 8.5 beta for Linux for the first time and you do not have any DataCenter database file created yet, the AVG Admin Server 8.5 beta for Linux install script will install an empty DataCenter for you.
DataCenter computer (server) is available for individual stations via the HTTP protocol. The AVG Admin Server 8.5 beta for Linux is running as a daemon and by default it is listening on port 4158 for incoming connections. To start/stop the server, please use the avgadmsrvd initial script.
