AVG Admin Server can be told by an external incentive (a special TCP/ UDP packet sent by a program residing at the AVG Technologies server) that a new update is available. The update files are downloaded then and an update notification is distributed to the defined AVG stations instantly (see the description of the Client info tab for details).
AVG stations and DataCenter. A Firebird server is used for accessing the DataCenter database. AVG Proxy server is also a part of the AVG Admin Server and serves for mirroring update files that can be accessed via the HTTP protocol.
You can also use the default DataCenter database from the installation package ( data/avgdb.fdb). If you are installing AVG Admin Server 8.5 beta for Linux for the first time and you do not have any DataCenter database file created yet, the AVG Admin Server 8.5 beta for Linux install script will install an empty DataCenter for you.
