A firewall is a hardware or software device that is configured to permit, deny, or proxy data through
a computer network that has different levels of trust.

14.1 Installing IPTables Basic
1 Click Add/Remove under Components, then select All. Scroll down to Firewwall (IPTables) and
click Install.
2 Select Basic, then click Next.
3 Specify your IPTable configurations.
External Interface: The network interface connected to the Internet.
Internal Interface: The internal network interface. If you are using NAT, it routes from
the external interface to the internal interface.
NAT: Network Address Translation shares the firewalled Internet connection with the
network on the internal network interface. This is a must if you are using this server as
your network firewall.
4 Review the settings. If you need to make a change, click Back. To proceed with the installation,
click Next.
5 The firewall install is complete. Click Finish to proceed to the available software page.
IPTables is now listed on the installed software list.
14.2 Installing IPTables Advanced
1 Click Add/Remove under Components, then select All. Scroll down to Firewall (IPTables) and
click Install.
2 Click Advanced, then click Next.
3 Specify your firewall configurations.
External Interface: The network interface connected to the Internet.
Internal Interface: The internal network interface. If you are using NAT, it routes from
the external interface to the internal interface.
NAT: Network Address Translation shares the firewalled Internet connection with the
network on the internal network interface. This is a must if you are using this server as
your network firewall.
4 Specify your firewall port setup. See
page 15
for typical ports that should be open for TCP and UDP.
Additional Ports (TCP): Specify a comma-separated list of additional TCP ports to open
on the firewall. Port ranges can be specified with a hyphen.
