BAR TACK STITCH

1. Select pattern 30 to get the bartack stitch.
Change the presser foot to the buttonhole
foot.
2. Pull the button holder to the rear. Set the
button guide plate on the buttonhole foot
to the desired length.
3. Pass the upper thread down through the
hole in the presser foot. Position the fabric
so that the needle is 2mm (1/16 inch)
in front of the pocket opening, and then
lower the presser foot lever.

4. Pull down the buttonhole lever then push
it back. The buttonhole lever is positioned
behind the bracket on the buttonhole foot.
Gently hold the end of the upper thread in
your left hand, and then start sewing.
5. Bartack stitches are sewn as illustrated.
6. As an example, the procedure for sewing
bar tacks at pocket corners.
