MC-12/MC-12 Balanced
ERRATA NOTES
The errata notes listed below reflect additions and modifications to
the MC-12 User Guide (Rev 1) based on Software Version 1.1.
These errata notes replace the MC-12/MC-12 Balanced Errata
Notes (Rev 0).
1. When switching audio formats, the unit will mute momentarily
under certain conditions until the new audio format is
recognized.
2. When switching audio formats, some DVD players will produce
audio artifacts.
3. The unit does not decode MPEG-encoded input signals. When
an MPEG input source is present:
•
The unit will not switch to the ANALOG IN connector
when the INPUT SELECT parameter on the MAIN ADV
menu is set to AUTO.
•
The ZONE 2 AUDIO OUTPUTS will mute when the ZONE2
IN parameter on the INPUT SETUP menu is set to DIGITAL
or DMIX.
•
The RECORD AUDIO OUTPUTS will mute when the
RECORD IN parameter on the INPUT SETUP menu is set to
DIGITAL or DMIX.
4. When a Dolby Digital input source is sent to
CAUTION
the RECORD AUDIO OUTPUTS, toggling the
setting of the DIGITAL BYPASS parameter on
the RECORD ADV menu will cause a loud burst
of digital noise. It is recommended to stop the
Dolby Digital input source before toggling the
parameter setting.

5. To accommodate THX level requirements, the MAIN AUDIO
OUTPUTS labeled FRONT L/R are about 2dB lower than the
ZONE 2 and RECORD AUDIO OUTPUTS when an analog input
source is present and about 8dB lower than the ZONE 2 and
RECORD AUDIO OUTPUTS when a digital input source is
present. The ZONE 2 and RECORD AUDIO OUTPUTS are the
same as the input signal.
6. When the 5.1 analog input is selected, speaker setup menu
parameters set to NONE on the CUSTOM SETUP or THX SETUP
menu will not be redirected to other channels. It is
recommended that DVD-A and SACD players are set up with
the same speaker configuration as the MC-12/MC-12
Balanced.
7. When the INTERNAL NOISE TEST is in process, it is possible
to manually select a speaker just as the unit is about to
automatically scroll to that speaker. This might cause the unit
to send the noise signal to both outputs. If this occurs, reselect
the desired speaker.
8. Toggling the setting of the SURROUND EX parameter produces
low-level clicks in the front speakers.
9. When the DIG OUT RATE parameter setting is adjusted,
the RECORD AUDIO OUTPUT labelled S/PDIF will mute
momentarily – even if the DIGITAL BYPASS parameter is set to
ON. The DIG OUT RATE and DIGITAL BYPASS parameters are
located on the RECORD ADV menu.
