Chain Guard DTG, Steel, Black
Before you begin installing:
1. Read and understand these instructions
completely.
2. Verify that you have received all the parts
listed in the bill of materials.
WARNING
Always wear safety glasses when using power tools.
1. Attach the top cover (item 1) to the lower channel
(item 2) with two screws (item 5), four flat washers
(item 4), and two nuts (item 6). You may choose to
use the supplied holes or to drill two new holes (7/32"
diameter) in the lower channel to create a longer
overlap between the two covers. If you choose to
drill new holes verify that the chain guard will be long
enough to completely cover the chain.
2. Place the chain guard cover over the top sprocket
Installation Instructions
on the end of the roll tube assembly. Slide the chain
guard upwards 1 inch (for clearance) and mark the
bottom of lower channel for cutting. Verify the marks
will ensure the cover is long enough to completely
cover the chain.
3. Cut the chain guard where you marked it in step 2.
Before final installation below, sand the sharp edges
created by cutting and spray paint the edge to prevent
corrosion.
4. Place chain guard over the ground control chain
in the same position as step 2 and determine the
locations for the mounting brackets (item 3). Making
sure the chain has plenty of clearance from the guard,
mark the bracket's hole location on the chain guard.
It is recommended to support the chain guard in at
least four places. It may be necessary to modify or
replace (with a custom made bracket) one or more of
the brackets due to the wide variety of dump body
designs.
5. Drill 7/32" diameter holes in the locations marked
in step 4 and bolt the mounting brackets to the chain
guard using the screws, flat washers (two per) and
lock nuts supplied.
6. Place chain guard over the ground control chain in
the same position as step 2 & 4. Mark the position of
the mount bracket mounting holes on the body.
7a. Holes marked with access to the opposite side:
drill clearance hole to bolt brackets with nuts and
bolts (not supplied).
7b. Holes marked with no access to opposite side:
drill and tap thread for bolting into blind area (bolts not
supplied).
8. For aluminum dump bodies it is recommended to
isolate the steel parts from the aluminum parts with a
non-conducting material to prevent corrosion.
9. Bolt the chain guard in place and verify all
fasteners are properly tightened.
