Description The HP StorageWorks Simple SAN Connection Manager (SSCM) is a GUI-based management application for basic management of storage area network (SAN) components, such as host bus adapters (HBAs), switches, and storage arrays. The SSCM uses Microsoft's Virtual Disk Service (VDS) to manage storage arrays. - Page 4 • One or more PCI-e slots for the HP StorageWorks 81Q PCI-e Fibre Channel HBA (or other supported QLogic FC HBAs) • Java Runtime Environment (JRE) 1.5 or later • Internet browser: Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE), Netscape Navigator, or Mozilla Firefox Installation instructions For detailed installation instructions, see the HP StorageWorks Simple SAN Connection Manager user guide, available on the HP website http://www.hp.com/go/8Gb-SSC.
- Page 5 • Network installations: The SSCM installer does not support installation over a direct network share using \\<ip or system-name>\share. Attempting to install SSCM in this manner results in the following error message: Internal Error This installation wizard has experienced an error. Please contact your software vendor with the error code below.
- Page 6 • Windows Server 2008 upgrade issue: Performing an upgrade from a previous installation on the Windows Server 2008 will cause MSA2000 MPIO and SES drivers to fail to install. Workaround: These components are not required by the Windows Server 2008. You can ignore the failure of those components during an upgrade from a previous version.

The new LUNs may not be initialized and a drive letter not assigned. Workaround: Reboot the management station after deleting any LUNs that were presented to the management station.
