Operation

HDMI Input Indicators

The 301BN Switch has three HDMI Input indicator lights on its front panel. When the Switch senses audio/ video transmission on one of its HDMI Input ports, the corresponding HDMI Input Indicator is illuminated in Red color. When an HDMI Input is selected for use, the corresponding HDMI Input Indicator is illuminated in Blue. The HDMI Input Indicator is not lit when there is no input signal or no HDMI cable is connected.

Input Selection with the Front Panel Button

To select an HDMI input, press the 'SWITCH' button on the front panel of the HDMI Switch. Each press of the button progresses to the next connected HDMI Input. Signal from the selected HDMI Input is sent to the Output port and its corresponding HDMI Input Indicator is illuminated in Blue.

Input Selection with the Remote Control

The Up and Down buttons on the remote control have the same function as the SWITCH button on the front panel. To select an HDMI Input, press the Up or Down button on the remote of the HDMI Switch. Pressing the 'Up' button will move to the previous connected HDMI Input. Pressing the 'Down' button will move to the next connected HDMI Input.

There are also direct input selection buttons on the remote control (Buttons 1, 2, and 3). Pressing each button selects the corresponding HDMI Input port, no matter whether the port has active input signal or not.

Auto Switching

Automatic Input Selection

When the 301BN Switch is powered on for the first time, it senses input ports automatically and switches to the input port source automatically in the sequence 1 › 2 › 3. It bypasses input ports without signal. When a new device is turned on, the Switch automatically selects that input. For example, if cable box is powered on, the HDMI Switch will automatically switch to the cable box. Turn the currently selected device off and the Switch automatically selects the next higher numbered input that has an active signal (1 › 2 › 3...)

While Auto Switching is a convenient feature, it will not work with every HDMI input device, unfortunately, because some cable TV boxes, streaming devices, game consoles, and similar devices don't ever really turn off their HDMI signal, even when they appear to be turned off or asleep. These devices transmit a blank HDMI signal or black screen to the TV through our switch, even when asleep or turned off.

Here is a list of popular devices that do not support Auto Switching:

  • Amazon Fire TV
  • Apple TV (all generations)
  • Roku
  • PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro
  • Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X

Enable or Disable Auto Switching

To disable Auto Switching, press and hold the "SWITCH" button on the front panel of the switch for 8 seconds. The HDMI Output LED will flash 4 times and turn Green.

To enable Auto Switching, press and hold the "SWITCH" button on the front panel of the switch for 8 seconds. The HDMI Output LED will flash 4 times and turn Blue.

warning Note: Auto Switching is enabled by default.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  1. What do I do if I have a HDCP error?
HDCP errors are usually caused by syncing/ handshake issues.
    • Simply unplug all your devices from the Switch.
    • Unplug the Switch from the power source.
    • Replug all your devices and restart the entire set up again. This should help resolve the issue.
  2. What do I do if my switch is not working or there is no audio?
    Steps to diagnose the device:
    • Ensure all HDMI cables are completely inserted into the Switch. Loss of connection can cause issues.
    • Make sure that the HDMI cables are working. Try a different HDMI cable to check if cable is the issue.
    • Ensure input devices are powered on.
    • Test with just one input device to diagnose. Check if the input device works directly with the TV. This will also help verify the HDMI cable. Try pressing the input number on the remote corresponding to where the input is connected.
  3. What do I do if Auto Switching is not working as advertised?
    Refer to "Auto Switching" section.
