    1 Introduction Greeting Thank you so much for purchasing our company's CD-BC. Our company makes assurance doubly sure on the quality management of products. To bring out the performance sufficiently and use the product safely, handle the product properly following this document.

    "CD-BC-1ch" is software attached to the charge/discharge power supply "CD/CDPU series", it is possible to control only one unit. (Up to Ver. 1.3.8, it was the model name "CD-BC Evaluation Version".) "CD-BC-Mch" can control multiple units (up to 256 units) of charge/discharge power supply "CD/CDPU series".

    2 CD-BC Licensing Provisions of CD-BC When you use the software created by Matsusada Precision Inc. (hereafter, "First Party"), please agree to the following provisions. If you do not agree to them, you have to delete this software from your PC immediately.

    (*1) Correct operation of this product is not guaranteed, even in the operating environment stated above. We do not offer support for the operation of the CD-BC program on Windows XP or VISTA (*2) because Microsoft’s support for these operating systems has been terminated. We will not answer any inquiry about the operation of CD-BC on Windows XP or VISTA.

    3 Setting up CD-BC 3-1-1 Windows System Setting Notes Pay attention to the following points regarding Windows system setting in order to use CD-BC stably. • Set the power saving mode and screen saver of Windows to OFF. If Windows goes to sleep or hibernate, communications may stop.

    (1) Connect the PC to the power supply using a USB cable. (2) Set up the Matsusada Precision USB driver. (Refer to [3-2-4 Setup of USB Driver Made by Matsusada Precision Inc.].) (3) Set the communication protocol for “Virtual COM port”. (Refer to [3-2-5 Port Setting].)

    CO-U32m Instruments USB port (1) Connect USB port of PC to CO-U32m. (2) Setup the USB driver made by Matsusada Precision Inc. to connect CO-U32m. (Refer to [3-2-4 Setup of USB Driver Made by Matsusada Precision Inc.].) (3) Connect the CO-U32m to the power supply using a modular cable.

    Documents USB Driver Drivers Sample Programs 3-2-5 Port Setting At the connection, pay attention to the following points. If these items are not set properly, CD-BC may not operate. • Specify UNIT numbers from #0. • Set the communication parameters of the COM port as shown below.

    3-3-1 Connecting the USB key (CD-BC-Mch only) The CD-BC-Mch is supplied with a USB key. It is necessary to connect the USB key to the PC if you want to test batteries using multiple power supplies. The USB key's red LED comes on when the device has been recognized by the PC.

    The installation procedure differs by OS or PC environment. Proceed with the installation according to the details displayed by the installer. (1) Insert the CD-ROM of CD-BC. (2) Execute setup.exe in [CD-BC] folder. (3) (When necessary component is not installed) Install the necessary component(s) according to the detail displayed.

    3 Setting up CD-BC Other Setup This section explains the use of devices other than those supplied by Matsusada Precision Inc. 3-4-1 Recommended Commercially-available USB/RS-232C Conversion Cable USB/RS-232C conversion cables for which operation has been checked are shown below. (The operation is not guaranteed) - BSUSRC06, SRC06USB made by Buffalo Inc.

    • Help window Its manual and version are browsed. Group "CD-BC-Mch" can operate some power supplies all together. The minimum unit to operate all together is called “group” in CD-BC. The specification of “Group” is shown below. • The operation for each group can be individually set according to the groups.

    4 Basic Concept of CD-BC Test Condition The test condition has a tree structure combining the following 16-group conditions. (1) Test Condition The test condition name and the number of groups are set. (2) Group n [n = 1 to 16] The operation of this group is set.

    Log data can also be accessed via a tree-structured directory system, the same as when you access the test conditions. Log data are generated for each of the 16 groups. Recording Interval of the Log Data CD-BC is selected from “Delta time”, “Delta voltage” and “Delta current” as recording interval. • Delta time (s) Set the time interval for logging.

    If the install is completed, the icon shown on the right side is displayed on the desktop. Double-clicking on the icon activates CD-BC and the file screen is displayed. On the file screen, a test condition can be created, opened, saved, and the test result, the log data can be saved and opened.

    Select "Test Condition" in the tree menu on the left side of the screen and carry out the setting. Set the name of the test condition (necessary item) and the number of groups here. When CD-BC is activated, the number of temperature chambers or COM ports will be detected automatically.

    Next, select "The Number of Power Connections". The number of power supplies that can be connected to one COM port varies depending "CD-BC-1ch" for 1 and "CD-BC-Mch" for 16. Setting the port and the number of power supplies enables the setting of grid for "Model Selection and Limit Setting".
