8. Tractor engine exhaust gases contain deadly carbon monoxide gas.
This dangerous gas, if breathed in sufficient concentrations, can
cause unconsciousness or even death. Operate the tractor only where
adequate ventilation is available. NEVER operate the tractor inside
any
enclosure where exhaust fumes might accumulate and endanger
people.
9. Read- and make sure you understand- all safety precautions and
warnings in this Manual and on tags and labels affixed to the generat-
or.
10. Approximately 73 horsepower is required at the power takeoff (PTO)
shaft to develop 40 kilowatts of electrical power. For that reason,
extremely high twisting forces are present during operation which can
flip the generator over and cause injury to personnel or damage to e-
quipment. To prevent the unit from tipping over during operation, it
must be properly fastened to a strong substructure or to a wide base
trailer that is approved for such
use.
11. Never operate the power takeoff (PTO) shaft at severe drive
angles. Keep the tractor and generator gearbox shafts parallel. Keep
shaft joint angles equal and as small as possible.
12. GENERAC cannot anticipate every possible circumstance that might
involve a hazard. The warnings in this Manual and on the generator are
therefore not all inclusive. If a procedure or technique not recommen-
ded by GENERAC is to be used, you must satisfy yourself that it is
safe and will not result in damage to equipment.
