Introduction to RAID
Overview of RAID
Redundant array of independent drives (RAID) is an array of multiple
independent hard drives that can be accessed simultaneously, improving I/O
(input/output) performance. The RAID array is recognized by the host
computer as a single storage unit or as multiple logical units. Data loss,
because of a drive failure, can be prevented by reconstructing missing data
from the remaining data and parity drives.
