I N T R O D U C T I O N The Te x a s I n s t r u m e n t s RS232 Interface Card is a c o m m u n i c a t i o n s adapter featuring 8-bit parallel and RS232 serial capabilities t h a t enable y o u to connect a wide range o f accessory devices to y o u r T I Home Computer.
RS232 Interface Card S E T- U P I N S T R U C T I O N S The steps involved i n inserting the RS232 Interface Card i n t o the Peripheral Expansion System and then checking its operation are included i n this section. Please read this material completely before proceeding.
Inserting the R S 2 3 2 Interface Card 1. F i r s t turn off the computer console and all attached devices. 2. WA R N I N G : TO AVOID DAMAGING ACCESSORY CARDS, WA I T TWO (2) MINUTES AFTER TURNING OFF THE UNIT FOR THE POWER TO DISCHARGE BEFORE PROCEEDING.

These switches are sometimes a physical p a r t of the p r o d u c t and are set by hand. W i t h the RS232 Interface Card, however, these switches are p r o g r a m m e d into an integrated c i r c u i t contained i n the card to provide more flexibility.

RS232 Interface Card A n added feature o f the RS232 Interface Card is its editing capability. Before pressing the carriage r e t u r n or ENTER key, the person sending data from a t e r m i n a l can delete characters and recheck the data before transmission.
