    Interface 1. [USB TO HOST] For connecting to a computer or a mobile device (converter may be required for the latter). 2. [MIDI IN], [MIDI OUT] For connecting other MIDI devices such as a MIDI keyboard or sequencer. Please refer to the MIDI Interface chapter for more details.

    3. Plug the power adapter into an appropriate AC outlet. 4. Press the [ ] button to turn on the power. The screen starts up and shows “MEDELI”, indicating the instrument is turned on. 5. Turn the [VOLUME] knob and play the keyboard, until you set an appropriate volume.

    Sound Mode The instrument is preset with a variety of high-quality sounds, arranged in different categories. Please refer to the Sound List. Selecting and Playing Sounds 1. Press the [SOUND] button or one of the SOUND selection buttons to enter Sound mode. The “R1” icon lights up. The screen shows the current sound name and number.

    Playing Different Sounds with Each Hand You can split the keyboard into two separate sections, and assign different sounds to each section. When the keyboard is split, you can play the sound “L” in the left hand section. 1. Hold down [SHIFT] and press the [SPLIT] button to turn on the split function.

    2. When the transpose value blinks on screen, you can hold down [SHIFT] and press the TRANSPOSE [ ] buttons, or use the data dial or [ /YES]/[ /NO] buttons to change the transpose value. The setting range is ±12 semitones. Transpose setting applies to the accompaniment and the entire keyboard sound.

    Twinova Mode In Twinova mode, the entire keyboard is divided into two equal areas, left and right, with the same pitch and sound for both. This feature is particularly useful for elementary level one-on-one instruction, as well as for practicing and performing simple duets that require two pianos.

    Style Mode The instrument provides a huge selection of styles, categorized by musical genres, please refer to the Style List. Playing the Percussion Tracks of a Style The percussion tracks are significant part of a style. You can generally identify the style of music by listening to its percussion tracks.

    Full Range Mode If you wish to use the entire keyboard to play auto accompaniment as well as the keyboard sound, you can use the Full Range mode. 1. In Chord mode, you can change the chord detect mode to Full Range.

    Fade In / Fade Out When style stops, you can press the [FADE] button to engage fade-in. The screen will temporarily shows “Fade In”. When you start playing the style, the volume will increase from low to high until it reaches the normal level. When style is playing, you can press the [FADE] button to engage fade-out.

    Chord Basics This section is a brief introduction to the basics of chords. Chord Construction When three or more notes are played together, they form a chord. Fifth A chord is the basic component of harmony, and each note in the chord is generally built according to a principle of thirds.

    Quick Setting (Q.S.) When Quick Setting is turned on, you can instantly recall all auto accompaniment related settings including sound selection and effects, simply with a single touch of a button. 1. Press the [Q.S.] button to turn on Quick Setting. The “Q.S.” icon lights up on screen.

    Song Mode The instrument comes with a large selection of built-in songs of various musical genres. Each preset song can be practiced with melody off. Playing Songs 1. Press the [SONG] button to enter the Song mode. It will automatically loop playing all the songs.

    Recording In Recording mode, you can record your performance and save it as a user song , then play it back. You can record up to 10 user songs, each with 6 tracks (1 accomp track and 5 melody tracks). You can record auto accom- paniment to the accomp track, and melody to the melody tracks.

    Play Back Recording When recording is stopped, it will automatically go to Song mode and loop playing the user song you have just recorded. In Song mode, you can use the data dial or [ /YES]/[ /NO] button to select a user song. If the selected user song is blank, it will show “No File”...

    Album When you select a song in the Album, the instrument will automatically recall the best settings for you to play this song. Please refer to the Album List. 1. Press the [ALBUM] button to enter Album mode. The screen shows the current album name.
  • Page 23: Save To/Reset The Memory

    Save To/Reset the Memory To memorize panel settings: If you wish to save the panel settings to a memory button, simply hold down the [STORE] button, then press one of memory buttons [M1] - [M6]. It will save the current panel settings to that memory slot.

    Mixer The Mixer allows you to adjust the volume balance across different channels. 1. Hold down [SHIFT] and press the MIXER [ ] buttons to enter the Mixer menu. The screen temporarily shows the current channel and volume. If this is the first time to enter the Mixer menu, it will show rhythm channel by default 2.

    Harmony Harmony is a commonly used effect that automatically adds harmonies to the notes you play. It applies to sound part “R1” only. Turning Harmony On/Off Hold down [SHIFT] and press the [HARM.] button to turn harmony no or off. When activated, the “HARM.” icon lights up on screen. The instrument provides 16 harmony types.

    D.A.S. (Dynamic Acoustic System) The instrument features a powerful dynamic acoustic system. The D.A.S. will dynamically adjust the higher and lower frequency bands according to the overall volume, delivering clear treble and full bass even when playing at low volume, boosting a balanced auditory experience in general.

    Scale Tuning Scale tuning is a system that precisely regulates the pitch of each key in the scale. The instrument is preset with some classi- cal temperaments that are useful when playing older music, such as music from the Renaissance period. The instrument employs the 12-Tone Equal Temperament.

    Introduction of Classical Temperaments ▘ Twelve-Tone Equal Temperament Twelve-Tone Equal Temperament is a tuning system that divides an octave into 12 equal intervals. This temperament has only one type of semitone and one type of whole tone, making it easy to transpose. Most keyboard instruments worldwide are tuned in this temperament.

    Performance Assistant Performance Assistance is a useful feature. It makes performing easy and interesting, letting you perform various advanced techniques with simple operation. Using Performance Assistant 1. Hold down [SHIFT] and press the [PERFROM.] button to turn on the Performance Assistant. The screen shows the current performance mode and the sound name.

    Piano Performance Mode The Piano performance mode makes it easy to achieve some piano techniques which are difficult to play by using normal playing meth- ods, such as piano rhythms (5 types), broken chords (5 types) and endings (3 types). The piano key map is similar to the guitar key map.

    Function Setting In function setting, you can adjust the parameters of various functions by accessing their corresponding sub-menus. 1. Hold down [SHIFT] and press the FUNCTION [ ] buttons to enter Function Setting. 2. Hold down [SHIFT] and press the FUNCTION [ ] buttons repeatedly to select a function parameter.

The 000~127 metronome sound will not be recorded to a user song. ▘ Pedal Assign Range Default The left/soft pedal can be assigned with these functions: soft Soft, Start/Stop, Memory Soft pedal (default setting), style start/stop, and memory switch.
