Local Requirements
European Requirements
Matrix II has been designed to European standards for electrical switchgear
EN60439. It is CE marked.
Ensure that all European electrical health and safety, and working directives are
met when installing Matrix II.
Power Supply Requirements
Matrix II is designed for operation with a 3-phase star 380V – 415V RSTNE supply.
Only one main supply per rack is permitted as standard. Special order delta wired
racks and multiple feed racks are outside the scope of this manual. Contact your
local ETC distributor for more information. Please see
Rack
Supply Cable Requirements
Main power supply cables must be suitable for the type of dimming installation, the
anticipated load (with diversity factor) and to meet local regulations. Single
conductor or stranded conductors in either copper or aluminium may be used with
suitable terminations.
Load Cable Requirements
Cables connecting the dimmer outputs to load sockets must be suitable for the
type of dimming installation, for the anticipated maximum load and to meet local
regulations. Matrix II is designed for 3-wire per circuit load wiring (phase, neutral
and earth). Installations with shared neutral connections will require rewiring to
allow RCD protection to operate correctly.
Data Cable Requirements
Ethernet data cables should be at least CAT5 rated, and CAT6 is recommended
for dimming installations due to its increased bandwidth and future upgrade
potential.
Dimmer Room Requirements
Location
A clean (not dusty) temperature-controlled environment
o
Restricted public access to prevent any unauthorised tampering with the dimmer
o
settings
Soundproofing or performance area separation to muffle ventilation fan noise.
o
Please see
details.
Ventilation
The dimmer room requires adequate ventilation to accommodate the heat
o
generated by the dimming system and to maintain a working temperature of less
than 35degC. For planning purposes allow for a thermal output of 3% of the
available power. Air conditioning is recommended. Ventilation input is through the
rear door grille and a grille at the bottom of the front of the rack. The hot air
exhaust is through the front of each module.
Please see
details.
Access to dimmer room
Before attempting to move the rack(s) into the final position, check access routes
o
to the dimmer room for space to manoeuvre through doorways and around
corridor corners. The dimensions of the dimmer racks are provided in Appendix
B.
