VBR6802 Smith Machine | Assembly and Use Guide
Assembly Requirements
Precor recommends at least three (3) people for this installation. DO NOT
attempt assembly by yourself.
When assembling the equipment, we recommend you:
•
Follow the assembly instructions in order.
•
Unpack the box and assemble the equipment close to where you plan to use it.
•
Locate the equipment at least 40 inches (1 meter) away from walls or furniture on
either side of the equipment, and 40 inches (1 meter) away from objects behind or
in front of the equipment.
•
Assemble the equipment on a solid, flat surface so it remains level and stable.
•
DO NOT move equipment without assistance.
Required Tools

Philips screwdriver
•
Metric hex wrench set
•
Metric hex bit set
•
Torque wrench 75 ft-lb (100 N-m)
•
6 ft (2 m) step ladder rated Type I
•
Open-end wrench set (metric)
Required to remove foot caps:
5 mm hex key (or long 5 mm hex bit), 13 mm open-end wrench

Frame Assembly
1.
Have your assistants stand up the
rear cross frame to each side with 4
washers (Figure 2). Partially tighten.
2.
While your assistants support the frames, use a ladder to place the
frame into position. Secure with 4
(Figure 2). Square the frame and hand-tighten. Do not fully tighten until instructed
to do so.

Attach Weight Bar and Lower Handles

Using your ladder, remove the 2 M6 x 16 mm socket head cap screws, washers,
13 mm
and plate from the top front of each side frame (Figure 3) to expose sliding bar.

Lift up each sliding bar high enough for your assistants to slide the sleeves of
top cross

weight bar from the bottom upwards onto the sliding bars (ensure that the
J-hooks face downward) (Figure 4). Have an assistant hold the weight bar during
steps 3 and 4.

Have your other assistant slide a

assembly.

Lower the sliding bars back into the foot frames. Set the lower hook assemblies
into the lowest opening. Have the assistant supporting the weight bar set the bar's
hooks into an upper opening to hold it in place.
5.
Replace the plates and fasteners removed in step 1. Fully tighten the M6
fasteners to 7.7 ft-lb (10.5 N-m) of torque.

Attach a spring clamp

Adjust the frame pieces and then tighten all M12 fasteners to 65 ft-lb (88 N-m)
of torque.
