  • Page 7 Safety Information Work Area • Make sure you thoroughly inspect the entire work area and remove all objects and anything that could be thrown by the machine or could damage the engine or machine (branches, stones, wire, toys, etc). Attempting to clear the work area whilst using the machine will reduce your concentration and creates a trip hazard.

These vibrations can lead to white finger (Raynaud’s phenomenon) or carpal tunnel syndrome. This condition reduces the ability of the hand to feel and regulate temperature, causing numbness and heat sensations and may cause nerve damage and circulatory tissue death.

The machine will stop if you let go of this lever. Self Propelled Lever Propels the machine forward. All you have to do is control the path the machine takes. Primer Bulb Air Filter Prevents dust, dirt and other contaminants from getting into the engine.

  • Page 24 Assembly Unboxing & Assembly Video: Go to youtube.com and type in Hyundai HYM430SPE assembly. YOU MUST read and understand the instruction manual first. Step 1 : Assemble Handle Bars You will need a 13mm spanner or an adjustable spanner for assembly.

  • Page 26 Assembly Step 2 : Cable Attachment NOTE - If stood behind the lawnmower: OPC Cable : Attaches to the lever in front of the main handlebar if traced, will attach to the engine. Drive Cable : Attaches to the lever behind the main handlebar and if traced, will enter the deck of the lawnmower behind the engine.

  • Page 28 Preparation Adding Oil Oil Type : SAE 30 or 15w40 Engine Oil Oil Capacity : 600ml NOTE - The machine is delivered without oil in the engine. All machines are tested and inspected so there may be some residual oil left in the machine so please fill with caution. Remove the oil filler cap.
  • Page 29 Preparation Adding Fuel Make sure you read the fuel safety before handling fuel. Fuel Type : Fresh Straight Unleaded Petrol Fuel Capacity : 1L NOTE - The machine is delivered without petrol. All machines are tested and inspected so there may be some residual petrol left in the machine so please fill with caution.
  • Page 30 Operation Grass Collection Lift the rear discharge flap. Remove the mulching plug if installed. Lift the back end of the grass collector up high to get the front hooks over the bars. Lower the rear discharge flap so it rests on the grass collector. These are the 2 hooks that will secure the grass collector into place.
  • Page 31 Operation Mulching Lift the rear discharge flap and remove the grass collector. Install the mulching plug. Lower the rear discharge flap. What Is Mulching? Mulching is the intelligent way to keep your lawn healthy. This is when the grass clippings are cut into fine pieces which then fall back into the soil.
  • Page 32 Operation Cutting Height Adjustment Make sure the engine is off. Pull the adjustment lever outwards and select the required height. The height is automatically adjusted for all wheels.   • Page 33 Operation General Mowing Tips Maintain a constant cutting height of 3-5cm. Do not shorten the grass to less than half its original height. Under certain conditions, such as very tall grass, it may be necessary to raise the height of cut to reduce pushing effort, prevent overloading of the motor and leaving clumps of grass clippings.
  • Page 34 Starting Procedure YOU MUST read and understand the full safety instruction manual before starting the machine. CAUTION - For OUTDOOR use ONLY. Petrol machines produce carbon monoxide – poisonous, colourless and odourless gas that can cause serious injury or death. Petrol is highly flammable, always handle with extreme care and in a well ventilated area.
  • Page 35 Starting Procedure Electric Start Make sure the blade is free of long grass and the cutting height is set to the highest setting. From cold, pump the primer bulb 5 times. You do not need to do this for warm start. (Warm start is when the machine has been turned off for less than 15-20 minutes).

  • Page 37 Stopping Procedure Stopping CAUTION - The engine and exhaust will remain hot for a while after use. Ensure the engine and exhaust has cooled before carrying out any maintenance, refuelling or storage. Before stopping the machine, you must allow the engine to idle for 30 seconds. You do not need to do this if you need to emergency stop the engine.
  • Page 38 Maintenance Maintenance Safety IMPORTANT - Routine and accurate maintenance is essential for maintaining original machine safety and performance levels. WARNING - Before cleaning or doing maintenance work, you need to stop the engine, disconnect the spark plug cable and read the relevant instructions. You need to wear proper clothing and protective gloves whenever your hands are at risk.

  • Page 40 Maintenance Storage Where To Store Store in a cool, dry place away from sources of ignition and varying changes in temperature. Store on a flat and level surface with all wheels on the ground. DO NOT stack other items on top of the machine when in storage. Store the machine in a safe place, out of the reach of children or anyone who is not familiar with operation.
  • Page 41 Maintenance Long Term Storage If storing the machine for a period of 30 days or more, you must follow proper storage and winterisation guidelines to avoid any possible issues with the machine. Incorrect storage can lead to possible fueling or engine issues that will not be covered by the warranty. Allow the engine to fully cool down.

  • Page 43 Maintenance Air Filter CAUTION - A dirty air filter will restrict the air flow to the carburettor, which will reduce engine efficiency. When using the machine in very dusty areas you must clean or replace the air filter more often. Never operate the machine without the air filter being fitted it can cause damage to the engine which is not covered by warranty.
  • Page 44 Maintenance Spark Plug For good performance, the spark plug must be properly gapped and free of deposits. You MUST allow the engine to cool down before carrying out any maintenance. Always use the correct spark plug. To check the spark plug, remove the spark plug HT lead cap and remove the spark plug with the spark plug wrench.

It is necessary as part of routine maintenance to adjust the OPC cable tension to ensure the lawnmower will start correctly. Follow the OPC cable to the adjuster located on the side of the engine.
