REMOVING THE BATTERY

Remove the battery compartment cover,
see page 41 (REMOVING THE BAT-
TERY-FUSE COMPARTMENT COVER).
Disconnect first the negative (-) and then
the positive cable (+).
Remove the battery (1), and put it on a
flat surface in a cool, dry place.
WARNING
Once removed, the battery must be
stored in a safe place and kept away
from children.
CHECKING BATTERY FLUID LEV-
EL
This vehicle is fitted with a maintenance-
free battery and it is not necessary to
check battery fluid level.

CHARGING THE BATTERY

Do not remove the battery plugs or the
battery may damage.
Remove the battery compartment cover,
see page 41 (REMOVING THE BAT-
TERY-FUSE COMPARTMENT COVER)
Remove the battery, see page 46 (RE-
MOVING THE BATTERY).

Be sure to have a suitable battery charg-
er ready at hand.
Set the battery charger for a slow
charge.
Connect the battery to the battery charg-
er.
Charge or use the battery in a well-ven-
tilated place. Do not inhale the gases
produced by the battery under charg-
ing.
Switch the charger on.
CAUTION
WARNING

INSTALLING THE BATTERY

Remove the fuse-battery compartment
cover, see page 41 (REMOVING THE
BATTERY-FUSE COMPARTMENT COV-
ER).
Refit the battery into its mount.
Connect first the positive (+) and then
the negative cable (-).
Coat the terminals of cables and battery
with neutral grease or Vaseline.
Refit the fuse-battery compartment cov-
er, see page 41 (REMOVING THE BAT-
TERY-FUSE COMPARTMENT COVER).
