EXTRACTING THE BATTERY CASE

Carefully read p. 53 (BATTERY).
Make sure that the ignition switch is in
position " ".
Remove the front cover, see p. 48
(REMOVING THE FRONT COVER).
Remove the fuse block (1) from the clip
(2).
Unscrew and remove the screw (3).
Remove the clip (2).
Withdraw the battery case (4) together
with the battery.

CHECKING AND CLEANING THE
TERMINALS
Extract the battery case, see beside
(EXTRACTING THE BATTERY CASE).
Make sure that the cable terminals (5)
and the battery terminals (6) are:
– in good conditions (and not corroded or
covered with deposits);
– covered with neutral grease or Vaseline.
If necessary:
Disconnect first the negative (-) and then
the positive cable (+).
Brush with a wire brush to eliminate any
sign of corrosion.
Reconnect first the positive (+) and then
the negative cable (-).
Cover the terminals of the cables and of
the battery with neutral grease or
Vaseline.

REMOVING THE BATTERY

Extract the battery case, see beside
(EXTRACTING THE BATTERY CASE)
Disconnect first the negative (-) and then
the positive cable (+).
Remove the battery breather pipe (7).
Remove
the
battery
compartment and put it on a flat surface,
in a cool and dry place.
WARNING
Once it has been removed, the battery
must be stored in a safe place and kept
away from children.
Put back the battery case, see beside
(EXTRACTING THE BATTERY CASE).
