INTRODUCTION
The Auxiliary Relay Module (A.R.M.) is an accessory which can
be purchased for use with the Multi-Link Infinity system. The
purpose of the A.R.M. is to provide timed relay
activation/deactivation for up to sixteen SPDT (single-pole, double
throw) relays (e.g., for elevator control). In addition, the A.R.M.
unit will also allow free access or control of the heating and air
conditioning systems for up to three time periods per day. The
A.R.M. will work anywhere within a Multi-Link system, except as
the first unit in the chain, and cannot be used as a
stand-alone unit.
Each of the sixteen relays is controlled by a specific transaction
record which is sent to all of the units in a Multi-Link chain. A
transaction record is composed of the unit number, the device
type (telephone, entry code, or card reader), door number, and
group number. Group numbers are numbers which vary
depending on the type of devices attached to the system. For
instance, with telephone access units, the group number is the
first two numbers of the directory code. For keypad access units,
the group number is the first two numbers of the entry code, and
for card reader access units, the group number is the last two
digits in the name field. For example, if "1243" is entered on
keypad 1, the group number for this transaction record will be
read as "12" by the A.R.M. unit (see Activate a Relay on the
A.R.M. Unit Using a Directory Code, page 29).
Entering data for the A.R.M. unit is done in the same manner as
entering data for a Multi-Link unit, with the exception that the
following steps have been removed and cannot be accessed:
03-05, 07, 10, 12, 13, 16, 18, 21-0, 22-1, 23-1, 55, 60, 69, 73,
83, 85, 87, 89, 93, 95, 97, and 99.

ENTER ESC IF DONE, NUMBER OF AREA TO CHANGE, OR 9 FOR ANOTHER RELAY
To add or change information for this relay, enter the number
(between 0 and 8) corresponding to that area. On the following
pages, prompts that the system will display regarding the
required entries is shown. Examples of typical responses to the
prompts are also shown.

The rest of the Multi-Link chain can be programmed with these
steps, but the A.R.M. unit will not accept any data from these
areas. Information that is entered in all other Multi-Link
programming steps will also apply to the A.R.M. unit.
The A.R.M. unit has an additional programming area which needs
to be completed before it is able to begin operation. This is
programming number 48. The information programmed into this
area is only accepted by the A.R.M. unit and will not be accepted
by the other units in the Multi-Link chain. Information is
programmed into the A.R.M. unit, relay by relay. Card readers and
keypads which are attached to the Multi-Link chain and are to be
used by the A.R.M. unit need to be programmed into the A.R.M.
through programming number 48. The card readers and keypads
will also need to be programmed into the Multi-Link system.
These devices will not work with the A.R.M. unless this procedure
is done.
NOTE: If there is an A.R.M. board within the Multi-Link
installation, programming number 83 must be performed to
enable communication between the Multi-Link and the A.R.M.
unit(s) (see Other Special Functions, programming number 83
Suppressing Real-Time Transaction Records, page 24). If this
programming step isn't performed, communication problems
between the units will occur.
Remember, if a mistake in an entry is made, press ESC (" "). If
changes need to be made to a different relay in the same unit,
press "9" and ENTER. After completing an entry, press
ENTER ("#").
To begin programming the A.R.M. unit, press "48" and ENTER at
the programming prompt. After entering the number of the unit
and the relay number (this number can be between 01 to 96), the
system will display the following screen:
