Cruise control operation* [6]

  1. CRUISE indicator ( /CRUISE)
  2. Set speed The cruise control system allows you to drive at speeds above 30 km/h (20 mph) without depressing the accelerator pedal.

To set cruise control speed:

  • Accelerate to the desired speed, which must be more than 30 km/h (20 mph).
  • Press the Driving Assist button at the desired speed. The set speed and Cruise ( /CRUISE) indicator will illuminate on the cluster.
  • Release the accelerator pedal. Vehicle speed will maintain the set speed even when the accelerator pedal is not depressed.

To increase cruise control speed:
Follow either of these procedures:

  • Push the RES+ switch up and release it immediately. The cruising speed will increase by 1 km/h (1 mph) each time the switch is operated in this manner.
  • Push the RES+ switch up and hold it whilst monitoring the set speed on the cluster. The cruising speed will increase to the nearest multiple of ten (multiple of five in mph) at first, and then increase by 10 km/h (5 mph) each time the switch is operated in this manner. Release the switch when the desired speed is shown and the vehicle will accelerate to that speed.

To turn off cruise control
Press the Driving Assist button to turn cruise control off. The Cruise ( /CRUISE) indicator will go off.

To decrease cruising speed:
Follow either of these procedures:

Towing / Changing Tyres

When towing your vehicle in an emergency without wheel dollies:

  1. Set the ignition switch in the ACC position.
  2. Place the transmission shift lever in N (Neutral).
  3. Release the parking brake.

When being towed by a commercial tow truck and wheel dollies are not used, the front of the vehicle should always be lifted, not the rear.

  1. Wheel dolly

Emergency towing [7]
If towing is necessary, we recommend you to have it done by an authorized Kia dealer or a commercial tow truck service.

Changing tyres [7]

  1. Park on a level surface and apply the parking brake firmly.
  2. Shift the shift lever into R (Reverse) with manual transmission or P (Park) with automatic transmission.
  3. Activate the hazard warning flasher.
  4. Remove the wheel lug nut wrench, jack, jack handle, and spare tire from the vehicle.
  1. Block both the front and rear of wheel that is diagonally opposite the jack position.
  2. Loosen the wheel lug nuts counterclockwise one turn each, but do not remove any nut until the tyre has been raised off the ground.
  3. Place the jack at the front (1) or rear (2) jacking position closest to the tire you are changing.
  1. Insert the jack handle into the jack and turn it clockwise, raising the vehicle until the tyre just clears the ground. This measurement is approximately 30 mm (1.2 in).
  2. Loosen the wheel nuts and remove them with your fingers.
  3. To reinstall the wheel, hold it on the studs, put the wheel nuts on the studs and tighten them finger tight. Jiggle the tyre to be sure it is completely seated, then tighten the nuts as much as possible with your fingers again.
  4. Lower the vehicle to the ground by turning the wheel nut wrench counterclockwise.

In Case of Remote Key Failure

Starting the engine [6]

  • If the battery is weak or the smart key does not work correctly, you can start the engine by pressing the engine start/stop button with the smart key.
  • When the brake switch fuse is blown, you cannot start the engine normally.
  • Replace the fuse with a new one. If it is not possible, you can start the engine by pressing the engine start/stop button for 10 seconds while it is in the ACC position.
  • The engine can start without depressing the brake pedal. But for your safety always depress the brake pedal before starting the engine.

Mechanical key [4]

  • To remove the mechanical key, press and hold the release button (1) and remove the mechanical key (2).
  • To reinstall the mechanical key, put the key into the hole and push it until a click sound is heard.

Opening the fuel filler door [4]

  1. Stop the engine.
  2. To open the fuel filler door, pull up the fuel filler door opener.
  1. Pull the fuel filler door (1) out to fully open.
  2. To remove the cap, turn the fuel tank cap (2) counterclockwise.
  3. Refuel as needed.

Closing the fuel filler door

  1. To install the cap, turn it clockwise until it "clicks". This indicates that the cap is securely tightened.
  2. Close the fuel filler door and push it lightly and make sure that it is securely closed.

Checking the engine oil level [8]

  1. Be sure the vehicle is on level ground.
  2. Start the engine and allow it to reach normal operating temperature.
  3. Turn the engine off and wait for a few minutes (about 10 minutes) for the oil to return to the oil pan.
  4. Pull the dipstick out, wipe it clean, and re-insert it fully.
  1. Pull the dipstick out again and check the level. The level should be between F (Full) and L (Low). Do not overfill.
  • Use a funnel to help prevent oil from being spilled on engine components.
  • Use only the specified engine oil. [9]

Checking the washer fluid level [8]

  • Check the fluid level and add fluid if necessary.
  • Plain water may be used if washer fluid is not available. However, use washer solvent with antifreeze characteristics in cold climates to prevent freezing.
