Preface

Before using the kit, please read this guide thoroughly.
The "TR150 with battery" model includes the printer, battery pack and battery attachment.
The "TR150 with battery" model may not be available in some countries or regions.

Parts and Functions

Battery Pack LB-70

This is a lithium-ion battery. To use the battery, load the battery pack in the battery attachment.

  1. Printer Connector
  2. Battery Level Indicator
    Indicates the battery charging progress and battery condition.
  3. Battery Level Button
    If the battery level indicator is not lit, press this button to display the battery condition and error information.
  4. Battery Error Lamp

Battery Attachment

The battery attachment is the case used to load the battery pack and connect it to the printer.

  1. Dial Screw
  2. Lever

Attaching the Battery to the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer and disconnect the AC adapter and USB cable from the printer.
  2. Take out the battery pack from the package and load it in the battery attachment.
    1. Load the battery pack in the battery attachment with the printer connector facing upward.
    2. Push down on the battery pack until it clicks.


If the printer connector of the battery pack is dirty, the printer may not operate. Keep the printer connector clean. If it becomes dirty, wipe it clean with a soft, dry cloth.

  1. Remove the battery connector cover on the printer.

    You can store the battery connector cover in the battery attachment.

  2. Attach the battery to the printer.
    1. Align the printer connector and the left and right protrusions on the battery attachment with the printer, and then attach the battery.

    2. Turn the left and right dial screws on the battery attachment clockwise to firmly secure it to the printer.

      The battery pack is not charged at time of purchase. Charge it before use. For details, see "Charging the Battery".

Removing the Battery from the Printer

  1. Turn off the printer and disconnect the AC adapter and USB cable from the printer.
  2. Detach the battery from the printer.
    Turn the left and right dial screws on the battery attachment counter-clockwise to remove it from the printer.

  3. Remove the battery pack from the battery attachment.
    Unlock the lever on the battery attachment as shown below, and remove the battery pack from the battery attachment.

  4. Attach the battery connector cover to the printer.

Charging the Battery

To charge the battery, load the battery pack in the battery attachment, and attach it to the printer. For details, see "Attaching the Battery to the Printer".
Note

  • Charge the battery pack at an ambient temperature between 5°C and 35°C/41°F and 95°F. If the temperature is outside this range, the battery pack may not charge or performance may be reduced. If the ambient temperature is low, the charging time may become longer.
  • While the battery pack is being charged, the battery level indicator flashes to indicate the charging progress even if the printer is turned off.

Connecting the AC Adapter for Charging

  1. If the printer's power is on, press the ON button to turn off the power.
  2. Connect the AC adapter to the printer, and then plug the power cord into a power outlet.
    The battery level indicator will flash and the battery will start charging.

    Note
    When you connect the AC adapter to charge the battery, you can use the printer while the battery is charging, but charging will be interrupted during printing, so the charging time will increase.

Connecting the USB Cable (Type C) for Charging

You can charge from the USB cable connected to a computer or a USB charger.
Use the USB cable provided with the printer.
When connecting to a computer:

  1. If the printer's power is on, press the ON button to turn off the power.
  2. Check that the computer's power is on.
    You will need to wake up your computer if it is in hibernation or sleep mode.
  3. Connect the printer and computer with the USB cable.
    The battery level indicator will flash and the battery will start charging.

Note

  • Charging is not possible through a USB hub. Connect directly to a USB port on the computer.
  • Use a USB charger that is rated for at least 1.5 A output. Charging may not be possible with some types of USB chargers.
  • Charging may not be possible depending on your computer settings.

Checking the Battery Level

You can check the remaining battery level by the battery level indicator.

  1. Press the battery level button when the battery level indicator is not lit.
    The battery level indicator will flash when the battery is charging and will turn off once the battery is fully charged.

    The charging progress is indicated by the number of lamps.

    The battery needs to be charged.

    The battery needs to be charged using the AC adapter.

Troubleshooting

If any trouble occurs during use of the battery, determine the cause and take appropriate action as explained below.

Battery Is Connected but Printer Does Not Operate

  • Is the battery connected securely?
    Check that the battery is connected securely to the printer.
  • Is the charge level of the battery pack sufficient?
    Check the battery level indicator, and if the power is low, charge the battery pack.

Battery Error Lamp Lights or Flashes


The lamp lights.
The battery is out of power.
The battery needs to be charged.

The lamp flashes slowly.
The battery pack may be faulty.
Turn off the printer. Disconnect the AC adapter and the battery from the printer and then connect them again. Next, turn on the printer.
If the same error occurs, contact your Canon service representative.

The lamp flashes quickly.
The battery is faulty.
Turn off the printer. Disconnect the AC adapter and the battery from the printer and then connect them again. Next, turn on the printer.

Battery Does Not Start Charging When Using the AC Adapter

  • Disconnect the adapter and then reconnect it and try again.

Cannot Charge by USB

  • Turn the connected USB device's power off and on again. Use a USB charger that is rated with an output of at least 1.5 A. Charging may not be possible with some USB chargers.
  • Disconnect the USB cable, and then connect it again.
  • If USB charging is disabled in the printer's settings, enable USB charging.
  • When connected to a computer, check that the computer's power is on. If the computer is in hibernation or sleep mode, wake it up.
  • When connected to a computer, do not use a USB hub, connect directly to a USB port on the computer.

Safety Precautions

To use the battery pack and the battery attachment safely, follow the directions below.

  • Do not use the battery pack or battery attachment for other printers. A fire or failure could occur.
  • Do not connect any AC adapter other than the AC adapter supplied with the printer. A fire or failure could occur.
  • Use the battery attachment that comes with the battery pack. Do not charge the battery by any other means.
  • Never immerse the battery pack or battery attachment in water.
  • Never heat the battery pack or battery attachment, or throw them into fire. Never use or leave them in locations close to heat or flame. They could explode.
  • Never put the battery pack or battery attachment in a microwave oven or highpressure container. They could explode.
  • Risk of explosion if battery is replaced by an incorrect type.
  • If liquid leaked from the battery pack gets into your eyes, do not rub your eyes. Wash the liquid away with clean water. Consult a doctor immediately. If you do not do so, your eyes can be damaged permanently.
  • If liquid leaks from the battery pack or an unusual smell is generated from the battery pack, do not use it again.
  • If an unusual smell, heating, discoloration, or deformation is detected during use or storage, unplug the AC adapter from the wall outlet. Remove the battery from the printer and do not use it again.

  • Do not disassemble, drop or modify the battery pack or battery attachment.
  • Keep metallic objects, such as necklaces or hairpins, away from the electrodes of the battery pack. A short circuit could occur.

Directions for Use

  • The battery pack is not charged at time of purchase. Please charge it before use.
  • The operating temperature range of the battery pack is from 5°C to 35°C/41°F to 95°F (condensation should not occur with a sudden change in the temperature). If the battery pack is used outside this range, the following problems could occur:
    • The battery pack cannot be charged.
    • It takes longer to charge the battery pack fully.
    • The number of pages printed per charge is much reduced.
    • The printer cannot be used. If one of the above problems occurs, move the battery pack to a place where the ambient temperature is within the operating range.
  • During use, the battery may become warm. This is not a problem.
  • The battery pack is a consumable product. If the battery pack becomes exhausted quickly after a full charge, please purchase a new kit.

Directions for Storage

  • If the battery pack will not be used for a long period of time (6 months or longer), remove the battery from the printer and store them separately.
  • Store the battery pack in a cool, wellventilated place. Storing the battery pack in the following places may reduce its life or cause a failure:
    • In a place exposed to direct sunlight
    • In a place exposed to heat, for example, near a heater
    • In a hot place, for example, in a car
    • In a dusty or damp place
