The operating instructions constitute part of this product. They contain important information on safety, use and disposal. Before using the product, familiarise yourself with all of the operating and safety instructions. Use the product only as described and for the applications specified. Keep this manual safely and in the event that the product is passed on, hand over all documents to the third party.

Intended purpose

The device is suitable for bonding wood, cardboard, packaging, PVC, carpet, seals, plastic, leather, ceramic, glass and fabric with hot glue. The material to be bonded must be dry, clean and free of grease. Any other use that is not explicitly approved in these instructions may result in damage to the equipment and represent a serious danger to the user. The user or operator is responsible for accidents causing injury to other people or damage to property. The manufacturer is not liable for damage which is caused through inappropriate use or incorrect operation. This equipment is not suitable for commercial use. Commercial use will invalidate the guarantee.

The device is part of the Parkside X 20 V TEAM series and can be operated using Parkside X 20 V TEAM series batteries. The batteries may only be charged using chargers from the Parkside X 20 V TEAM series.

Functional description

The hot glue gun heats up the glue stick, liquefying it. After application, the glue quickly cures, cooling down and hardening. Read the sections below to learn more about each operating element's function.

Safety instructions

Ensure that the safety instructions are observed when operating the appliance.


When using power tools, observe the following basic safety measures for the prevention of electric shocks and the risk of injury and fire:

To avoid accidents and injuries:

  • This device is not intended for use by children, individuals with limited physical, sensory or mental capabilities, those with insufficient experience or knowledge or individuals who are not familiar with the instructions. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the device. Cleaning and maintenance must not be carried out by children.
  • The device must not be used at altitudes over 2000 m.
  • Never let children or persons who are not familiar with these instructions use the machine. Local regulations may restrict the age of the operator.
  • Never leave a machine which is ready for operation unattended at the workplace.

Specific safety instructions for hot glue guns

  • Children should be super-vised to ensure that they do not play with the device.

  • This device must be placed on its inserted battery when it is not in use
  • Allow the device to cool down completely before putting it away.
  • Do not use any materials containing asbestos.
  • Avoid risks of injury and fire as well as any health hazards: Risk of burn injury! The nozzle heats up to up to 180°C. The glue heats up to up to 180°C. Do not touch the nozzle or the glue. Do not get any hot glue on people or animals.
    In case of contact with the skin, immediately hold the burn site under cold running water for several minutes. Do not attempt to remove the glue from the skin.
  • Do not attempt to pull the glue stick back out of the device.
  • Do not use any accessories that are not recommended by PARKSIDE. This can result in electric shock or fire.

Initial start-up

Inserting the glue stick

Inserting the glue stick

From the back, insert a glue stick (2) into the inlet channel (3) on the gun pushing it as far as it will go. Make sure by pressing the trigger (7) that the glue stick is in direct contact with the heating element.

Removing/inserting the rechargeable battery

  1. To remove the rechargeable battery (4) from the device, press the release button (5) on the battery and pull the battery out.
  2. To insert the battery (4), push the battery along the guide rail into the device. You will hear it click into place.

Switching on and off

Switching the device on::
Briefly press the transparent On/Off switch (1). The LED work light (6) now lights up permanently.

Switching off the LED work light:
The device is switched on, the LED work light lights up permanently. To switch off the LED work light, now press and hold the transparent On/off switch for several seconds. The LED work light switches off, but the device continues running.

information To only switch off the LED work light, make sure to press and hold the On/off switch for several seconds. Pressing for too short of a time switches off the entire device.

Switching the device off:
Briefly press the transparent On/Off switch (1).

warning Place the cordless hot glue gun on the inserted battery until the device is cooled down completely. The hot nozzle can cause damage and/or burns.

information The device has an automatic switch-off when the device is not in use. It switches off automatically after 30 minutes.

Operating temperature indicator

After switching on the device, it heats up.
The transparent On/off switch (1) lights up:

On/off switch (1) lit up red = device heating up

On/off switch (1) lit up green = operating temperature reached (approx. 140°C)

information The device takes approx. 60 seconds to heat up before it reaches the operating temperature.

Working with the device

Preparing the bonding surfaces

warning Do not use any flammable solvents to clean the bonding surfaces.

  • Clean the bonding surfaces! They must be clean, dry and free of grease.
  • Roughen smooth surfaces before gluing.
  • Warm quick-cooling materials such as steel up a bit before gluing. The glue will stick better.
  • The ambient temperature and the mate-rials to be glued must not be colder than + 5°C or warmer than + 50°C.

Gluing

See FIG.B

  • Press the trigger (7) to regulate the glue flow rate. If you are no longer able to move the glue stick (2) forward with the trigger (7), just insert a new glue stick (2).
    Inserted glue sticks remain in the gun until they are used up completely.
  • Press the trigger (7) to regulate the glue flow rate.
  • Apply the glue in spots. On flexible materials, such as textiles, it makes sense to apply the glue in zigzag lines.
  • Press the materials to be glued together for approximately 30 seconds after applying the glue. The bond is able to withstand stress after about 5 minutes.
  • When taking a break, place the hot cordless hot glue gun on the inserted battery. Make sure to place the hot nozzle far enough away from objects or people to avoid damage or burns.
  • After cooling, remove any adhesive residues using a sharp knife. The bonding surfaces can be undone by heating them up.

Cleaning and maintenance

warning Contact our Service Centre about repairs and servicing not described in this manual. Only use OEM parts. Risk of injury!

warning Turn off the appliance and, before doing any servicing, remove the battery.

The following cleaning and servicing should be done regularly. This will ensure a long and reliable service life.

Cleaning

shock hazard Do not spray the appliance with water and do not immerse it in water. Electric shock hazard!

  • Keep clean the ventilation slots, motor housing and handles of the appliance.
    Use a damp cloth or a brush.
    Do not use cleaning agents or solvents. You may otherwise irreparably damage the appliance.

Maintenance

The appliance cleaner is maintenance free.

Storage

  • Store the equipment in a dry place well out of reach of children.
