WARNING

the installation, operating, and maintenance instructions
thoroughly before installing or servicing this equipment.
2. The installation and maintenance instructions in the
appliance manual as well as the following supplemental
information must be followed to provide safe, efficient
and trouble-free operation. In addition, particular care
must be exercised regarding the special precautions listed
on page 2 of Installation and Service Manual for the
appliance. Failure to properly address these critical areas
could result in property damage or loss, personal injury, or
death. These instructions are subject to any more
restrictive local or national codes.
3. The listed conversion must be made prior to the
installation of unit.
4. All units must be wired strictly in accordance with the
wiring diagram furnished with the unit. Any wiring different
from the wiring diagram could result in a hazard to
persons and property.
5. All wiring must be done with a wiring material having a
temperature rating of at lease 105°C.
IMPORTANT
The use of this manual is specifically intended for a qualified
installation and service agency. All installation and service of
these units must be performed by a qualified installation and
service agency. Modine manuals may contain excerpts from
component supplier literature adapted for Modine products.
Any accompanying component supplier literature is for
general information.
Un-install the unit prior to heat exchanger replacement. Refer
to the installation and service manual for installation instructions
and perform in reverse order.

HEAT EXCHANGER REPLACEMENT
models PD/BD, PAE/BAE, PA/BA, PDP/BDP, PV/BV
PAH/BAH, PSH/BSH, PVE, GHG, PAB, PBH
THIS MANUAL IS THE PROPERTY OF THE OWNER.
Refer to Figure 2.1 to identify parts.
Unit Disassembly
1.
Place unit on the floor with the Bottom Pan (15) down.
2.
Remove Deflector Blades and Springs (11) from front of unit.
3.
Remove Outer Side Panels (9) and (20). If unit has a
screwed in Deflector Blade (10), remove at this time.
4.
Remove screws holding Top Panel (2) at front of unit.
5.
Remove screws holding Lower Front Panel (14) at front of
unit.
6.
Remove Trim Channel (8). If unit has Center Deflector Blade
Support (6), remove at this time.
7.
Reposition unit with front of unit down.
8.
Remove Bottom Pan (15).
9.
Mark and disconnect wires to combination gas control (gas
valve). If unit has intermittent duty pilot, mark and disconnect
ignition cable(s) (coming from pilot) at the ignition control.
10. On PD/BD, PA/BA, PAE/BAE, PV/BV, GHG and GHE 400
models: If unit has ECO (switch located in upper left corner
of Extension Assembly (1)) disconnect wires to ECO.
Remove Extension Assembly (1).
11. Remove Rear Panel(s) (22), set to side with wire to Limit
Control (21) still connected.
12. Remove Top Panel (2).
13. Disconnect pilot supply line at combination gas control. If unit
has a thermocouple, disconnect from combination gas
control at this time. Remove tape holding pilot tubing to
Manifold (17).
14. Mark position of Manifold (17) and remove.
15. Remove Burner (13).
16. Disconnect wires to Blocked Vent Switch (4). If unit has an
Air Baffle (18), mark position. Remove Left Inner Side Panel
(19), set to side with Rear Panel.
17. Remove Diverter Top (5).
18. Remove Right Inner Side Panel (7). If unit has an Air Baffle
(18), leave attached to Right Inner Side Panel.
19. Remove Heat Exchanger (12) leaving Lower Front Panel (14)
on floor.
Unit Reassembly
1.
Attach new Fiberglass Gaskets (16) on new Heat Exchanger
(12) in the same locations as on the old Heat Exchanger.
Remove paper backing from the gasket to expose the
adhesive to attach gasket to headers of Heat Exchanger.
