(Available for the device without pre-installed Industrial OS)
3.1
Flashing JetPack OS with Support Package Manager
Downloading Support Package Manager
1
1.1 Open Siemens Industry Online Support website and register your account.
1.2 Browse to SIMATIC IPC - Operating Systems, Software and Accessories section, and find SPM
download entry.
Installing Support Package Manager on flash host
2
2.1 Download SPM to the flash host.
2.2 Open terminal and switch terminal to SPM save path.
2.3 Use command with SPM file name to decompress SPM file. For example, the SPM file name is
SPM-Tool_V01.01.01.tar.xz, run command:
tar -xpf SPM-Tool_V01.01.01.tar.xz
cd spm
Flashing JetPack Operating System
3
3.1 Building image
a. Execute command: sudo ./SPM IPC520A <JetPack Version> <rootdev>. SPM starts building a JetPack
image on the flash host, and the image will be flashed to IPC520A.
<JetPack Version>: specifiy JetPack version. For IPC520A, the option value is jp4.6 or jp5.0.2.
<rootdev>: specify the storage media where OS gets burned to. For IPC520A, optional value is
EMMC or NVME.
b. Verify if the command execution succeeds. If the command runs for more than one hour and no
logs display that remind you to continue, it means the command execution fails. For the
troubleshooting of the error, you can refer to the FAQ file in the SPM folder.
c. Set IPC520A to Force Recovery Mode (RCM).
– Switch off the IPC520A.
– Connect the IPC520A to the flash host with a micro USB cable.
– Keep pressing the reset button of IPC520A, meanwhile switch on IPC520A. Release the
reset button after three seconds.
– Use command to check whether IPC520A has entered the RCM. Enter command lsusb on the
terminal of the flash host, and the returned log should be as follows:
Bus <xxx> Device <xxx>: ID 0955: 7e19 Nvidia Corp . APX
Otherwise, setting RCM fails and you need to repeat the above steps to do it again.
3.2 Flashing image on IPC520A
After the IPC520A enters RCM, press the Enter key in the flash host terminal, and SPM starts to flash
NVME image to IPC520A.
It usually takes about 20 to 40 minutes for the flash process. When logs like the following displays in
the terminal, the flash finishes:
Run command: sync; nohup reboot &>/dev/null & exit on
root@fe80::1%ens35u1
SSH ready
Success
Cleaning up...
Log is saved to Linux_for_Tegra/initrdlog/flash_1-1_0_xxxxx.log
