4.11 VENT DAMPER ADJUSTMENTS
This fireplace is equipped with a vent damper system that can be adjusted using the glass latch tool. Locate damper adjustment
rod above the glass frame in convection chamber at the center. If this fireplace's vent is terminated horizontally, DO NOT CLOSE
the vent damper completely. Adjust position of damper by judging the flame characteristics after 20 minutes of burn time. If the
flames ghost off burners or if sooting occurs [in LPG units], open the vent damper FULLY and work backwards in increments to
determine the correct damper position for that particular installation.
To adjust the damper look into the convection air cavity and note the Damper Position Indicator. Hook glass latch tool in the
hole at the end of the damper rod, pull outward about 1/8" and turn clockwise to close the vent damper, release. The base of
the damper adjustment rod has a pointer that indicates the position of the damper.
When using a power vent in most situations the damper will be fully closed. On short runs that are 10 ft. long or less the power
vent may need to be turned to low. See the installation instructions for the power vent for instructions to turn it to low.
4.12 LOG SET/ MEDIA INSTALLATION
There are many options for log sets and media kits to compliment your new Mendota fireplace. To learn more about all the log
set and media kit options available please consult your local Mendota dealer.
Installation Instructions for each log set are included with the individual log set. Follow those instructions to install one log set.
Note: Installer, save and give the copy of the Log Set Installation Instructions to the homeowner for future
references.
