3. Installation

3.1 Installation diagram

The above diagram shows a typical pool heat pump installation.
As can be seen from the diagram the pool heat pump piping connections are made downstream from the pool pump and filter but upstream from chemical
dosing equipment like a chlorinator. A non-return (check valve) should also be installed at the heat pump outlet. This is to prevent concentrated chemicals from
potentially draining back into the heat pump when the pool pump is switched off. A full-bore ball valve must be installed on both the inlet and outlet pipes of
the heat pump. A full-bore bypass ball valve must also be installed. The bypass ball valve is used to reduce the flow via the heat pump to the required rate.

3.2 Installation Location

The unit should ideally be installed outdoor and within 7.5 meters from the pool. The greater the distance from the pool, the greater the thermal loss from the
piping. When piping is buried, it is recommended to have the piping insulated and running within a bigger diameter conduit pipe to reduce further thermal
losses. Pipe insulation should be used on installations where the desired pool temperature is more than the ambient temperature during operation.
DO NOT place the unit in an enclosed area with a limited air volume, where the unit's discharge air will be re-circulated.
DO NOT place the unit next to shrubs which can block the air inlet/outlet. These locations deny the unit of a continuous source of fresh air which reduces its
efficiency and may prevent adequate heat delivery.
DO NOT install the unit in a place where water can accumulate around the feet and base-plate.
The unit comes with anti-vibration rubber feet and should be mounted on it.
